Wonderful for both cooking and for health
The turmeric arrived much faster than expected, and the quality was far superior than expected.I have used turmeric in my cooking for many years, both for Indian-inspired dishes and also for the coloring effects it adds to certain dishes or components of dishes.A few month ago, my mother got me into taking turmeric for the health benefits. She was having extreme respiratory issues and problems with severe arthritis. She had several traditional medical treatments and nothing seemed to be working. After she did a bunch of research, she found a bunch of information regarding the health benefits of turmeric. After taking turmeric twice a day for about 8 weeks, she was able to be taken off of oxygen and she no longer has problems with her arthritis. enjoying this....
i use this powder for beauty and not for cooking...yet. i mix it with yogurt and honey and put it everywhere! the benefits of turmeric are so extensive and since ive been using the masks, my eczema flare ups are short lived. shipping was quick and i think ill have enough for quite awhile. this was definitely a good buy!

I do not use this spice to cook. I use it to make a face mask due to the antioxidants, along with chick pea flour and almond oil and bit of milk. It does wonders for the skin. I have combination skin and this helps with breakouts and oil control. I use it weekly and since i've began using it gives my skin a youthful glow and elasticity. I recommend you try it.

The name derives from the Latin terra merita "meritorious earth" referring to the colour of ground turmeric which resembles a mineral pigment. In many languages turmeric is simply named as "yellow root". Spice Description Turmeric is the rhizome or underground stem of a ginger-like plant. It is usually available ground, as a bright yellow, fine powder. The whole turmeric is a tuberous rhizome, with a rough, segmented skin. The rhizome is yellowish-brown with a dull orange interior that looks bright yellow when powdered. Bouquet: Earthy and slightly acrid. Flavour: Warm and aromatic with a bitter undertone. Preparation and Storage Turmeric is mostly used in ground form. The powder will maintain its colouring properties indefinitely though the flavour will diminish over time so buy in moderation. Store in airtight containers, out of sunlight. Culinary Uses : In India it is used to tint many sweet dishes. Apart from its wide use in Moroccan cuisine to spice meat, particularly lamb, and vegetables, its principal place is in curries and curry powders. the quality of the product is great! Fresh and very good deal
The packaging of this spice is superior to other packaging methods I've experienced. The color is vibrant and aroma excellent. I've used this in rice dishes so far and plan to develop more ways to get it in my family's diet. I've seen on many sites and in other reviews advice to use turmeric with oil (olive oil would probably be ideal) to aid absorption. Absorption is the goal because this isn't just food; it's medicinal.The active ingredient is curcumin. This product claims at least 5% curcumin. Turmeric typically has a range of curcumin between 2% - 6%. Curcumin is responsible for the dramatic and many health effects of this spice. It helps against inflammation, diarrhea, arthritis and a lot more. The one getting a lot of attention now is to aid against the prevention of Alzheimer disease. There are studies on this so it's not official yet. I guess it's semi-official if you think about all the doctors behind this movement and some statistics about populations...

How Curcumin is Absorbed Properly
I bought some of Frontier's organic tumeric at our local health food store. Dr. Russel Blaylock, neurosurgeon and author of The Blaylock Wellness Report says tumeric must be mixed with an oil in order to be absorbed. He suggests olive oil or fish oil.Life Extension Foundations sells products like tumeric and they mix it with peperine (black pepper) for better absorption.PureBulk sells powders and it says about their product: "PureBulk offers an extract of turmeric which has been standardized to 95% curcuminoids (the active constituent in turmeric)."So I don't understand what the minimum 5% curcumin means on the Frontier product. Does it mean that PureBulk's product has 95% and this product only has 5% curcumin? Then, switch off the heat, add turmeric powder and when the mixture has almost cooled down completely, add chilli powder. Turmeric powder 3 tsp. Turmeric powder 1 tbsp. Remove from the fire and stir in the turmeric powder. Heat the oil and add the asafoetida powder. Chilli powder 5 tsp. Separately, roast chilli powder until it has thoroughly dried. Make a fine powder of the roasted mustard and fenugreek. Chilli powder 4 to 5 tbsp. Once the ingredients have been mixed well, add the mango and stir well. Mangoes 750gms (semi-ripe mangoes). After this is done, heat the oil and add mustard seeds and, then, salt. Mix all the ingredients well except for the minced mango.

Add red chilies, turmeric powder, green chilies & finely chopped tomatoes. - Finely dice garlic cloves and make a paste Add chicken finely cut onions, cumin seeds, salt & garlic to butter and mash well. add 6 oz tomatoes, 6 oz onions & all green peppers into 1 pieces. Add diced green peppers, onions & tomatoes and mix. Mix well and let the chicken cook in this mixture at medium heat until almost all water has evaporated.

(4) Eat 40 grams yogurt with 10 grams turmeric powder added to it to cure jaundice. (3) Add 5 grams turmeric powder to 100 grams fresh thick buttermilk of cow milk and drink every day morning and evening. (5) Eating white onion, jiggery and turmeric powder together is a cure to jaundice. (9) Eating inner flash of blade of aloe sprinkling some turmeric powder may also help in jaundice. (7) Ginger powder with jiggery or ginger juice with jiggery may help in jaundice. Add fine powdered rock salt one sixth of juice. (12) Mix 2 t0 4 grams sodium bicarbonate to 100 to 200 grams yogurt and eat it for three days, and jaundice will disappear. Juice of pompom, fresh turmeric, fresh grapes, orange and mandarins may also be taken. (15) If you eat unripe pompom vegetable without salt or any kind of spices and ripe pompom as much as can be eaten, then jaundice may be cured.
