Don't toss your old router! ... and other suggestions
Some suggestions:(1) Use the instructions in the Users Guide for installing the router - the installation software on the CD didn't work for me, but the written instructions are clear enough.(2) Update the firmware before you get too far in configuring the router. There was a nasty bug in the installed firmware that caused the router to freeze if you tried to display wireless statistics. This is fixed in the firmware dated August, 2010.(2) If you're thinking of replacing an old b/g wireless router with this, don't toss the old router yet! Many wireless devices such as printers and music systems (like Sonos) do not support the 11n standard yet. At first I tried running the TP-Link router in mixed b/g/n mode. For some reason the performance was exceptionally slow. But, it's easy to link your old router into the network so that the b/g devices will use the old router. The TP-Link router can then be set to 11n-only for excellent performance for...

Awesome Router for DD-WRT
I bought two of these routers with the intention of flashing them with DD-WRT. Both flashed extremely fast and easily without any hitches and can be flashed via the router's web GUI (no Telnet, etc). Both routers have been running non stop ever since flashing them and have worked perfectly. I have been very pleased thus far with TP-Link products, especially after having a lot of issues with Belkin routers (hangs, slooooow response, rebooting, over-heating, etc). You can't beat the price vs features with this TL-WR1043ND (for sure when using DD-WRT, but even the original TP-Link firmware is still very usable). I my opinion this is the best price vs features gigabit router on the market for DD-WRT.For those interested, here are some hardware specs:Platform...........Atheros AR9132 @ 400 MHzFCC ID.............TE7WR1043NXWireless NIC...Atheros AR9103 3x3 MIMOWLAN..............802.11b/g/nLAN.................4/gigabit...

Better than previous N router
I bought this to replace belkin wireless N+ router (you can see my review for the belkin N+). The signal from may laptops to belkin would vary between 1Mbps - 48Mbps, and often losing the signal all together. This is with using built in wireless G. I added belkin wireless N adapter and signal would then range from 11Mbps - 120Mbps, but far fewer drops. I replaced with this TP-Link TL-WR1043 and after 1 week, I get no wireless drop outs at all. My laptop with built in wireless G consistently reports 54Mbps and my laptop with the belkin N adapter generally reports 120Mbps (sometimes dropping to 60Mbps, sometimes as high as 150Mbps).I should note that the TP-Link router is in the same exact location where my old belkin was, and my laptops are in the same exact location. So I have not varied distance nor obstacles between router & laptops. My laptops are ~75 feet from router in separate building, nearest neighbor ~.75 miles, so no change in interference from neighbors...

This little thing is awesome!
----------------------------------------------------------UPDATED: January 23, 2012 (Update section below)----------------------------------------------------------Installed January 14, 2011 and still excellent. I expect this thing to last at least until December 21 this year, when of course the Mayans have scheduled the world for demolition. :PHere's my take on the TP-Link TL-WN722N Wireless USB Adapter:-------------POSITIVES:-------------** It really, really works like mad. ** I get constant download speeds of 12Mbps+, which is close the the max of my internet bandwidth.- It's very cheap cost-wise for the great performance it gives you- It's small(ish), though it will look big connected to your laptop- Comes with a 3' USB extension cable which I definitely recommend using. It helps position the device, and keeps it from crowding your laptop or from being destroyed by being knocked...

TP-LINK TL-WN722N
It has my respect for two reasons. First, It pulls in a signal from somewhere, not on our acreage. And secondly, anywhere I've tried it, it has an outstanding, full five bars signal. This is paired with an AT&T 2wire wireless G router and has no loss, I can find. The Only con is you must D/L Win 7 driver from their site, which took 30 seconds to locate and download. XP and Vista drivers on disc supplied. It made my first wireless box happy, the rest remain hardwired, "for now".Simple, Painless, Secure. If you are looking for something reliable, this is currently $20 shipped to your place.Get you one.To test I had 4 secure pages and 2 different HULU channels playing and a few web pages, all open concurrently, and each was clear and fluid.

Cheap, stable, powerful
I am very happy with this adapter. It's cheaper than most competitors, yet performs much better. I have a half dozen different wireless adapters in my house. I bought all different models to test them out. This TP-LINK is by far the best performer. It sees more wireless networks and maintains a better connection. It is much bigger than most USB adapters, especially with the big antenna sticking out the side. But that's the price you pay for better performance. I also had to install drivers on my Win7 64 computer. Most USB adapters are plug&play.

Works exactly as advertised
I've had some experience with powerline networking in the past, and was disappointed. The speed was less than I would have expected and setup wasn't so easy. Not so with this product.First, they're small, and fit nicely into a room without standing out.Second, they were a snap to set up, and worked the first time I plugged in a device, in this case my MacBook Pro in the kitchen. Total setup time was 10 minutes from when I opened the package. I know from experience that these devices should be plugged directly into a wall socket, but I didn't have one available, so I used a power strip and a workgroup hub to connect back to the network, and it worked perfectly.Third, the speed was fantastic, especially considering how I set these up (see above.) Using speedtest dot net, I tested my download speed, and I got a blazing 21.6 mps down, and 3.62 mbs up. My wireless speed is 2.76 mps down, and about the same up, an almost 8-time speed increase for...

Plug and Play
I can't believe how easy this was to set up. I even have it plugged into a UPS on one end and a surge-protected outlet on the other. It works well even at the other end of the house. I am using it with a Series 2 TiVo with a USB-to-ethernet adapter. Plug one side in. Plug other end in. Push button on 1st. Push button on 2nd. You're connected! Great product and very versatile.

Wonderful product at its price!
I had a pair of airlink 85Mbps powerline adatpers at home for many years. When I need to try several outlets to find a "work best" outlet to get "best possible" transfer rate with airlink. This one works much better on every single outlet! Speed is not rated at my site but at least I can get full-speed (25Mbps) download now when only 5Mbps with airlink. Good product!

Great router
This router is great. I bought one about 4 months ago and it has been running since the day I got it. No freezes, lockups, no drop in speed. The only things about this router is, do not use the CD that comes with it. Manually set the network up in the router. If you have a basic knowledge of routers/networking it is an easy setup. Also, it does run a little hot. However, if you elevate it to allow air to pass under it as well it keeps it considerably cooler.I would buy this product again.

Great router!
The router now sits in the corner, and I almost forgot about it. The reason - it just works with no issues so far.It was easy to set up, it automatically found all the right settings to connect to my cable modem (once I figured out that I needed to power cycle the modem after I connected the router to it). I manually changed all the WLAN security settings to use an advanced encryption. Similar to the previous reviewer, I did not use the installation CD.Now the router pairs nicely with a laptop (WLAN N) and a desktop (using another great TP-LINK product - 150Mbps USB adapter TL-WN722N). Desktop reports 150Mbps link all the time (about 30 feet distance), and so far I experienced no dropped connection, despite having many active WLAN routers around my apartment. During installation, I looked for the least used WLAN channel and set the router to use it.I did an extensive research to find the best moderately priced 300bps WLAN N router before choosing this product, and...

Recommend
I am really impressed with this router and I am very pleased with this purchase especially at this price!I wanted a low-cost replacement and got tired of spending a lot of money for routers that worked "okay". I have owned three Linksys routers: BEFW11S, WRT54G and WRT54GS; all had problems requiring constant physical reboots at least every day (even with DD-WRT isntalled). Eventually replaced these with an Airport Extreme Wireless N a year ago. The AE was a HUGE disappointment and for $199 I was severely irate that the Linksys had MORE controls and features for 1/3 the cost. Unfortunately the AE did not need resetting like the Linksys'. With my bad experience I wasn't about to drop another hundred for a Buffalo or Asus either. My original intent of this router was to install OpenWRT and Gargoyle for the bandwidth monitoring and control so the pricetag of $35 was my deciding factor --if I screwed up flashing it, I would only be out a small chunk of change...

Excellent, inexpensive, high-performing wifi adapter!
I am very impressed with this adapter.I've never tried to use wifi with any of my desktops, but after moving one of my systems to a room that wasn't pre-wired with RJ-45 ports, I began looking for a wifi adapter. My initial instinct was an internal PCI adapter, but I stumbled across this one which turned out to be great luck! It's a lot cheaper than many PCI options too!The two antennas pick up signals incredibly well. When testing it with my laptop, I get 5 bars wherever I go in the house... even outside.Additionally, the capability to position the adapter wherever you like is a huge plus. I'm sure it helps to improve reception and avoid clutter. If you need an wifi adapter, look no further. I highly recommend this product!

Easy as 1-2-3!
Bought this to hook up a new desktop system to our historical society's wifi network.Step 1: Plug into computer using supplied USB cableStep 2: Install driver from included CDStep 3: Connect and enter password (one-time)Took all of 2-3 minutes! Windows reported excellent connection and I didn't even have to extend the antennas. Our network is currently Wireless G - but this connected with no problem. Router is in another room about 40 feet away.Used to download and install several hundreds of MB's of OS & application updates, anti-virus, and firewall software. Connection remained solid entire time.

Great Product!
I am a soldier in Afghanistan where I live in a tent. The nearest internet hotspot is about 120 meters away behind a 1 foot thick concrete blast wall. Before I purchased this relatively inexpensive 'high-gain' antenna I had to leave my tent and walk outdoors towards a signal to connect to the internet. Now, not only am I able to connect, but I have twice as many choices of networks to connect to. This little gadget is awesome! The upload and download speeds are good enough for SKYPE. It is one of the best devices I've purchased since I've been here.

I recently got a new Att dsl line and the f90 modem they sent me is defective, so without going into too much details, I bought this TP-link modem/router from a local vendor to replace the crapped out modem from Att. I used this to replace a failed AT&T 2Wire DSL modem/wireless router that they wanted $100 to replace. It may work for a few hours, then drops connection every few minutes. I had to restart the router again and again to make it recognize other computers on my home network. First – their setup CD changes Windows network DHCP settings from automatic to static, and that is without notifying. In a few minutes the software finished the install and I was able to connect wirelessly with no problem.
