Very positive review after a year (edited)
I received this unit yesterday so this is a preliminary assessment. The reason why I needed a dehumidifier is the one that we have in our basement is literally 20 years old. It's so old, it doesn't have a piece of plastic on it but it refuses to die. While I didn't test the old unit for electrical draw, my monthly electric bills are too high. I unplugged/put on a timer every appliance that I thought could contribute and it came back down to my belief that my old dehumidifier is an energy hog.Our basement is HUGE but I still only bought the 30 pint unit because I'd rather run a small unit more often than cycle a larger unit. Same concept as a house air conditioner - and a dehumidifier is a miniature air conditioner. Besides, I'd need the Mother of All Dehumidifiers to completely dry the basement and that's not going to happen.Even though the old unit had just been running before I installed the Soleus, the new hstat read 70%. Great Product
I received this dehumidifier a few weeks ago for use in my basement apartment that had gotten damp with all the rain this summer. It has been running non-stop since. It works great! I have been rotating it around the apartment into different rooms that need to dry out and it quickly fills up with water after a few hours beeps and I empty the bucket. the only drawback is that is does give off a lot of heat, which I guess all dehumidifiers do, but I still gave it 5 stars!

the little dehumidifier that could
this little wonder does a great job. I use it in my 20x40 man cave and it keeps it very dry. It is a little noisy for my taste and when we are occupying it I usually shut it down becuase of the fan noise. Also if it is running the room temperature rises a few degrees over the week. We like it when its 67-68 degrees and if it is on all week the temperature stays around 71. I attached a garden hose to it and it has worked flawlessly over last month.

Works great in my basement
My basement runs about 80% humidity all year round and stays about a constant 62 as well.I have had this unit running for a month and it has done everything I have asked of it.The basement is 1200 square foot and this dehumidifier has lowered the humidity to 55% which is where I have it set.I have it hosed to a drain and it is fairly loud on the high setting.The only negative I would note is the bucket seems a little flimsy if you are opting not to hose it to a drain.Actually it is the handle of the bucket that is suspect.Overall very happy with this product.

Awesome deal!
Got this unit for a great price from stacks and stacks! Great delivery time, well packaged for shipping. Unit works great so far, noise is not too bad, but it is a 70 pint, going to be louder than smaller units, as expected. I am running this in my utility room of an otherwise finished basement, so I am usually not in the same room with it trying to watch TV or listen to music.I always seem to over-research things like this before buying, glad I did this time, perfectly happy with this unit and would definitely recommend the product and the seller!

WORKS! Really, really, really well!
I bought the dehumidifier about a month ago, and have been using it in my incredibly humid bedroom. It removes a LOT of moisture in the air up there. The space is about 400 sq feet, and there is no more condensation on any of the windows, not even the ones all the way across the room from it.I don't recommend running it at night though, as it will dehumidify YOU! It's also a bit noisy and blows cold air. But it has really helped a LOT in keeping mold at bay, especially, which is something we worry about here in the Pacific NW.It is very easy to empty, and on average probably removes at least two gallons of air from the room a DAY.-H

Soleus 45 pint dehumidifier
I purchased from menards for 149.99 on sale a few days ago to replace an old reliable noisy westinghouse. This unit is very quiet in comparison and does an excellent job of removing water. I called customer service 2 times on just simple questions and both times I actually was able to talk to a real person within a mater of minutes. Customer service was extremely helpful and actually was from the USA. Great service! The owners manual is very short, simple and well done. I am very pleased and I have done a lot of research on other units. This unit is excellent.

My 2 cents worth
I purchased this device a couple of days ago at Menards, and so far am very pleased with it.It is quiet. I have it in the basement and can't hear it running from upstairs.It really pulls out the moisture. I have to empty it 2-3 times a day as I've not tried hooking up a hose drain to it yet. There is no problem in pulling out the drain bucket to empty it or putting it back into place.I've read the complaints about the humidity readings fluctuating. I've not compared the dehumidifiers humidity level reading with another device to see how it compares. However, I think some people have a misconception about how the humidity level setting works. And...what I'm about to describe is just my theory as I've not seen it documented anywhere. You initially push the + or - buttons to adjust the humidity level setting, but shortly thereafter, the reading will change from where you had it set. I purchased this item on 5/1/2011.I shopped around from best buy,home depot,PC richards and Loews.I saw different brands and prices and Im not one to buy the first thing I see.My Old dehumidifier lasted 10 yrs so decided to get a new and improved energy saver for my basementbecuase thats where I use it.I have a temp and digital humidity unit in the basement that tells me the levels of the basement.I bought this unit becuase it had and looked like a well made product and price.Well, Im really happy with this unit.
