Perfect knife!
This knife is absolutely perfect! It has a simple but effective locking mechanism, and when you want to open the blade you can either use the thumb stud on the blade or pull a small lever on the back with your finger. The torsion-assist takes over as soon as you move the blade out a few degrees, or pull the lever all the way down, and has enough power to fully open the blade into a locked-open position every time!If you want a good assisted opening knife, I recommend this knife right here. Every knife I've ever gotten from Smith and Wesson has been the highest quality knife I've ever had (no joke) and always come with an extremely sharp edge. Seriously, if I could give this knife more than 5 stars I would.*Edit* I forgot to mention that the grip on this knife is the same as the gritty surface on skateboards. It doesn't feel very rough, but gives GREAT grip, even if your hands are wet or greasy or whatever.

This is my husband's second one!
My husband had his first for two years! He is a mechanic. He put it through hell and it never bent, busted, rusted or anything else! He says the only downfall is that they lose screws!

Smith & Wesson S.W.A.T. BS video
Customer Video Review Length:: 0:22 MinsIf you're looking for a quality "assisted opening" knife that is smaller than the norm but still able to keep up with the big guys--you may just find it here. It's the 'Smith & Wesson SWAT BS.' It feels great, it's handsome and the blade pops opens with the slightest touch of the actuator lug. It also has a safety that you can slide into position to prevent the blade from accidentally opening.

Awesome Knife
I got this for my husband for Christmas and he is extremely satisfied with it. The quality is excellent and the price I thought was very reasonable.

Great Little Knife!!
I purchased this knife as a replacement for my SOG (that I lost). I am thoroughly pleased with it. But, I do wish that I purchased the bigger knife in the same series. That being said I have nothing negative to say about the Smith & Wesson SWAT Assisted Opening Knife. Right out of the box the knife looks awesome. The blade opening is super fast and it fits nicely in my uniform pocket. And it is sharp!! I think I could replace my razor with this knife and get a close shave. I would recommend this knife to anyone (if they want a smaller knife) but I would go with the medium or large if you have bigger hands.

Superb!
This knife is a tough knife. It opens with some power behind it and is very rugged. High quality steel blade that retains an edge well. The lock doesnt give at all. I would buy 50 of these knifes if I could find a use for all of them, but one does the job! I have owned numerous knives for work both and self-defence and this one is perfect for both. MUST buy for anyone who really loves knives. Once again, Smith and Wesson got it right.

Solid, but with some rough spots
Seems well constructed. MAGIC assisted opening system works fast and locks solidly. Overall fit and finish is good to very good for this price range. It is described as "Black aluminum with black rubber inserts handle" and this is NOT correct. There are no rubber inserts. The textured area you see in the photo is VERY rough textured aluminum NOT rubber. On the plus side this does provide a very positive gripping surface, but, IMHO, this material is too rough for a folder designed to be carried in a pocket or under clothing. It WILL abraid fabric and could easily get snagged being retrieved. It gives what otherwise might be 5 star rated knife a negative "feel". The error in the description may be due to S&W (Taylor) planning to use rubber inserts but then deciding the cost was prohibitive. I wish it had been made with the rubber inserts texture or textured G10.

fierce
This knife has a STRONG assisted opening feature, so strong it will easily fly from your hand if your not ready for it. initially, i thought this knife was perfect. it's sharp, grips well, FAST opening, solid, and it has a liner lock as well as a speed assist switch to keep it from opening in your pocket. my only gripe is the thumbs studs hurt after a few openings a day, which is why there's a flipper. but after dropping it once, the plastic flipper broke off, which means thumb stud access only. ouch. a solid, aggressive knife. just don't drop it.

The absolute best designed folding knife
I'm a designer, and I compulsively get caught up in the design details of products. I'm not a knife collector, or even an expert. My previous knife is a 40 year old folding Buck knife. I love that Buck, but it's so heavy and awkward to carry. In researching a new knife to buy, I looked for one that was large and sturdy enough to be a good survival knife while on the hiking trail. I also looked for a knife that, was light, had a trim profile, and could be opened with one hand. I found all these in the Gerber "Fast Draw". it's surprisingly sturdy for it's light weight. the spring-assist opening mechanism makes it very easy to open quickly with one hand, and snaps to a solid locked-open position. Like I said, I'm not a knife expert, just someone who appreciates good tools and well designed product--but I would enthusiastically recommend this knife to anyone. Unless you really hate serrated blades, get the serrated version. it's half-serrated, allowing for carving with the front half of...

Search is over
I have carried a blade just about everyday of my adult life. The whole "feel naked without it thing". I have tried large blades, small blades, fixed blades, switch blades, "butterfly" blades....I even carried a.....well I'd rather not get into that one. I have a fairly large plastic case that I have filled with retired knives over the years. Knives that were too bulky, too slow, too dangerous, too weak, even too ugly. Well, I will not be adding too many knives to that box now. The Gerber Fast Draw is THE FINEST knife I have ever carried. It is the most comfortable, most discreet, fastest opening, safest to carry, easiest to sharpen, best looking, easiest to close, and the easiest to forget it is in your pocket of any knife I have ever carried. I have always been loyal to Gerber over the years, but this is the first time I ever stocked up (bought 2 more) knives to hold for the future when this knife, as all others, is sadly discontinued. I expect a good long time of this knife in my...

Great carry Knife at an excellent price!
The Gerber F.A.S.T. (Forward Action Spring Technology) Draw knife is a pleasure to open and requires nothing more than a nudge on the thumb stud, or a simple push from your index finger on the knifes back to snap into action, and locking the blade in place. It has an excellent 3" 440A High Carbon Stainless blade (that is half serrated) is extremely sharp, and holds an edge for a long time between sharpenings! To close the blade you must slide a small, conveniently located button under your thumb forward and fold. The body of the knife is a very grippable, solid feeling glass-filled nylon, that feels great in your hand.I love knives and have several Kershaws, Bucks, SOGs and Spyderco knives. I consider myself a knife junkie and enjoy all of my blades. But this knife is often the one I carry with me everyday! I really like the integrated "steel" pocket clip, it is easy to carry in the pocket and releases only when you want! I have recommended this knife to many of my friends...

Innovative Technology for Quick, Reliable Deployment
The FAST Draw relies on Forward Action Spring Technology, or F.A.S.T., that was designed exclusively for Gerber and patented by famed Oregon knife maker Butch Vallotton. Butch is known as "Mr. Mechanism" in the custom-knife world, a tribute to his unique designs and exceptional understanding of opening and locking mechanisms. This new, proprietary blade opening concept means that you can deploy your knife quickly and easily using just one hand.

Of course, when a job calls for more deliberate actions, you can also open this knife in the traditional way, using the thumb stud. This is the closest you can get to a street legal switch-blade.

Convenient, Safe, and Dependable Over Time
A sharp knife is not only more useful than a dull knife, it's also safer to use. With a strong, sharp blade, you can make the cuts you want quickly and efficiently. That's why Gerber uses a high-carbon stainless steel blade on the FAST Draw. This large, 2.99-inch blade offers a fine-edged cutting surface that can easily be sharpened using standard methods. FAST Draw is the first in a series of knives utilizing "Fast Technonogy." Others include the Mini-Fast, Draw, Aluminum Presto 2.5, 3.0, 3.5, Vallotton, PR2.5 and PR3.0, Convert Fast, Mini Convert Fast, Answer 3.25, Tanto and Drop Point F.A.S.T.

This drop point blade, which is stronger than the clip-point style blades used on many pocket knives, fits neatly in the handle when not in use, so you don't have to worry about damaging it or hurting yourself.

The knife is precisely balanced to sit comfortably in your hand and features a glass-filled nylon handle for strength and durability. Texturing on the handle surface ensures a secure grip for improved control.

At just 3.6 ounces, the slim FAST Draw knife is light enough to take with you anywhere. And with the included sturdy pocket clip, you always know right where your knife is.

Gerber's History of Ingenuity
Savvy. Moxie. Craftsmanship. Attention to detail. These are just a few of the company traits that contributed to Gerber's emergence as a world leader in outdoor gear. Joseph Gerber started Portland, Oregon's Gerber Advertising back in 1910, and one Christmas, he hired a local knife-maker to craft 25 sets of kitchen cutlery as client gifts. The knives were so popular, Mr. Gerber ultimately left his agency to launch Gerber Legendary Blades in 1939.

For more than half a century, Gerber Legendary Blades has been helping people fend for themselves. Gerber designs popular, dependable tools and knives along with other outdoor gear that helps users accomplish whatever tasks they may be faced with, promoting the lost art of self-reliance.

Small, but great quality
I don't know too much about knives so I don't know about the technicalities of this knife. The knife was a little bit smaller than I'd expected. I got it as a gift for a friend and he seems to be impressed with the quality of the knife. Although, the rough texture on the outside makes it difficult to use the pocket clip without wearing down the fabric it's clipped to.

Smith Wesson S W A T Small Assisted Opening Knife

Black Friday Price for Smith & Wesson SWATBS S. W. A. T Serrated Assisted Opening Knife, Black, Small is a special price and time-limied.

Either of these can be opened with a thumb stud (except my hand is a bit too small), or by pressing the lever at the hilt, which is actually the back side of the blade, so in either case you’re touching the blade to open it. Both good knifes, the... I carry a Camillus Blaze Robo assisted folding knife and a Camillus Heat assisted folding Rescue knife. The knife came dull as a butter knife but I have managed to put a decent edge on it. Everything else is surprisingly nice for a $15 dollar knife. One thing that needs pointed out is that while this knife says “Smith & Wesson” it is not made by S&W but rather is made in Taiwan and imported by Taylor Brands in Kingsport, TN which also imports Schrade knives. The statute here reads that to be legal, you must be touching the blade to open the knife. That knife is a dream and an easy flick of the lever at the hilt and it flies open. Keep in mind that in some jurisdictions your spring loaded button operated knife, also known as a switch blade, may be illegal. That is a good looking knife. This is not to put down the knife, just stating facts. I am a knife dealer and just looked it up from my wholesale supplier and my cost is around $27.

Right now, it seems as though everyone is hurting - so it's the right time to capitalize on the pain with solid small-cap plays. In February, the gun maker announced it plans to nearly double its annual revenue and improve margins and market share over the next few years. Floridians are applying for concealed weapons permits in record numbers - and the state government is buckling under the weight of a massive backlog of concealed weapons permits, according to the St. Petersburg Times.
