Comfortable for long walks and easy to clean
Got this pair of shoes for workouts after my brother recommended Skechers Shape-Ups. He has been wearing them for quite a while now for long walks. I am suffering from plantar fasciitis and the rubber soles really helps to ease the pain under the heel. This is a much affordable alterntive to other shoes sold in the market for my condition. It's also easy to clean!

I'm A Walking Fool
I am a person who walks at least 8 miles a day for exercise. Of course I am retired, so I have ample time to walk 2-2 1/2 hours a day. My right foot is arthritic and I also have a bunion. Because of this, I use running shows for my exercise routine because of the support and comfort they provide.When I seen and read about Skechers, I figured I would give them a try. But at a retail price of $115.00, there was no way I would invest that kind of money into a walking a show. However, I found these shoes on Amazon; and with all the discounts, I got them for between 35-40% off. So I decided to take a chance.When I first laced up my new Skechers and took my first few steps, I noticed a difference right away. Skechers versus the Avia 9997s
I own these shoes and also a new pair of Avia 9997 shoes and compare them here. The Skechers have a soft "Kinetic Wedge" that extends from the heel to the front of the shoe so the rolling effect is very even from the heel to the front. The Avia has a distinct rocking point that is midway of the sole, pretty much under the arch.The other thing about the Avia shoes is that they have a tough flexible plastic "energy wedge" [my term] that is embedded in the heel. These are supposed to absorb the heel-strike energy and then help the heel rebound by returning the energy as the heels lift off.Avia calls this it's "Shear Cantilever® System" and it may allow these shoes' heels to last longer than the Skechers because all the Skechers have is the outsole and then the pillow soft Kinetic Wedge. It's my impression that the softer Kinetic Wedge in the heel will break down faster than the tough-looking Avia Shear Cantilever system but this is just an impression...

Most comfortable shoes my husband has ever worn
On the advice of his brother, my husband wanted to try these shoes for his gym workouts. Now he doesn't want to take them off! My husband has a spinal injury, and is in constant pain. He said these shoes really relieve the jarring pain of walking. A great product!

Most comfortable to date
I purchased Skechers Shape Ups to help with a recent knee injury. Because of the comfortableness I have since purchased two more pairs. These are the most comfortable shoes I've worn to date and, at 57 years old, I've worn a lot of shoes. They're a bit hard to adjust to at first but after an hour or two you truly feel as if you're walking on firm sand. I workout on a regular basis so I can't gauge the toning aspect but can tell you that my rock climbing has improved as has my balance. I would recommend this shoe to anyone who enjoys the feeling of comfort.

Too Small
I have a pair of Skechers "walking" shoes and ordered the same size "working" shoes. When it arrived, I was surprised to find that it was about a full size smaller. The bad thing is, Amazon would not exchange it and I had to pay for the return shipping because this (size difference) is not their fault. I understand, but isn't this the manufacturer's fault and why do I have to pay the penalty?

Shape ups
These shoes are the best shoes i've ever owned. They make me an inch taller and feel so confortable, that I can't wear anything else. I have tried Jordan's and nikes but if your looking for a comfortable shoe to wear for every day use try Skecher Shape up's for men. I am going to order a couple more pair for the next 5 years because iv'e been to at least 10 different shoe stores and nobody has them. I say 1 thing you don't no what your missing till you tried them

Good shoes, but soft middle sole issue.
These shoes are good, very comfortable and with nice looks. However, I just discovered that having a soft foam middlesole may bring an issue.While walking my dog, I stepped into some puddles. After a few days, I could still perceive the smell of wet grass coming from my shoes. It seems that the soft foam also works as a sponge. There won't be any issues as long as you don't step into any smelly water. If you do, then, you need to get some odor-remover liquid to be absorbed by the foam part of the shoes. I hope that will work with mine :)

A gym in a shoe
I love these shoes, I call them my 'gym in a box'. I go to the track with my son, and I walk a few laps while he jogs. The shoes are heavy, so you get a real leg workout just moving these things around. My hips were tired, in a good way. Couple that with the unstable nature of the sole, and man your legs do get some exercise.I had been dieting for months and bottomed out on weight loss. Just adding these shoes to the regimen , and I lost another 2 pounds really quickly. Maybe I walk more because I have the shoes, who knows really. I just wear them when ever I can - they are really comfy when they are not wearing me out!I can't attest to anything about shaping the glutes or posture or anything, I feel them 100% in my legs. The rest is bonus if true.

Wide width should be mentioned in product description
I don't know if it works or not because I haven't used them yet. Nowhere on this product page is any mention of the shoes being wide width. I wear a 9.5 medium width, and the front of my feet are not secure in the shoes. I tried to tighten the laces, but there's still room. I'm not sure if I should return or keep... I just wanted to mention the width issue for others interested.

worth the money
I was at the mall the other day and had tried another brand of this type of shoe on. It felt great and I was very interested in them. However they were 290.00 dollars, so I pasted on purchasing them. I then saw the skechers on- line and for only 90.00 dollars it was worth the risk. I have to say I really like them; a lot. Since purchasing them I have lost five pounds, without dieting. I only wear them to work and I am on my feet walking and standing 90% of the time. The difference in my posture is amazing. just in the way I now stand as well as in the way I walk. I was a little sore the first couple of days,mostly in my lower/middle back mussles. This has since gone away. this is a great shoe that forces you to focus on your posture as well as your balance well standing. Love the shoe and a great price. I may even go back and get the more expensive pair just because they seem to be softer when you step and I think they would work the mussle more.

Hubby LOVES these!
I got a pair of a different brand very much like the Shape-ups at Christmas. Everyone complimented me on my "neat looking" shoes and I think maybe my DH got a little jealous. Hee hee! But I kept telling him and everyone else, I don't care what they looked like, they were like walking on clouds! I loved my shoes and recommended them to everyone. However, my husband couldn't take me up on my recommendation because the brand I bought only carried women's shoes/sizes. The Skechers so far is the only shoes that carry the men's styles and sizes without breaking the bank. Granted, they are a little pricey, but I think they have been well worth it because my husband is absolutely in love with the pair he just received (he got the white and navy ones). The extra height is an added bonus as well. They make him about 2 inches taller and he's totally digging that. Ha! He will be attending a conference later this month where he has to walk around most of the day, so that will be well...

Seems to work
Walking is my primary exercise....about twice a week in the winter and 5-6 times a week when I'm getting ready for a trip. My walks are usually 3-5 miles. Prior to these shoes, I was wearing another brand of "regular" flat walking shoes at roughly the same price. I only wear these shoes when I walk, not to work etc. To date, I've worn Skechers on about 10 walks. I was skeptical of the claim it worked all of the leg and some lower back muscles, but thought the idea of "rolling" forward would help the calf. After my first couple of walks, I noticed my legs got a much better work out than they ever did in flat shoes and my lower back hurt a bit. After the third walk or so, my lower back stopped hurting and my legs still fell pretty tired...so I'd say the shoes help produce a good workout. For me, the shoes are very comfortable. It is like walking in sand and they felt good right away. Things like "balance" etc. never seemed like a problem. One thing I had to "learn" was not...
