Wow... I guess I didn't know good sounding speakers
Count me in to the group that believe the differences between high and low end speakers to be minimal. Boy am I wrong. I moved up from a set of Energy C-5 speakers that I thought were good but was very harsh sounding when I turn up the volume. Those were supposed to be efficient 8 ohm speakers. I was also told that these speakers are inefficient power hungry speakers that may not sound very good without an external amplifier.Well, like they say, seeing, or in this case hearing is believing. At least for myself, I broke one myth but reinforced another.1. Myth one: You will need external amplifiers to drive 4 ohm speakers. False. I pushed these with an Onkyo 808 135 watts at 8ohms, 180 at 4 ohms? There was absolutely no clipping at ear blistering level. No harshness whatsoever from these speakers that I heard from the C-5. At high volume, the C-5 gave me a headache. However, these were still extremely smooth. These speakers are 89db efficiency at 1 watt, so if I...

Best Speaker Under $2000 ???
I'm not a true audiophile but have a brother who is. Just wanted the bestspeakers I could get for under $2000 and he came up with these. I boughtthem primarily for music but do have the matching center channel and usethem for home theater also. Be forewarned, you need a kick-butt receiveror amp to drive these - low impedance. I use an RX series Yamaha with aclaimed 140 watts per channel and it's marginal at high volume. If a receiver doesn't have a low impedance setting, I wouldn't consider usingit. My receiver, set at nominal 8 ohms, sounded crappy; no bass. At lowimpedance / high current / the speakers came alive to the point where I don't even use my subwoofer anymore. Speaker placement is not as criticalas with some speakers as long as you don't stuff them into a corner. Mygreatroom is 30 ft wide X 38 ft deep and I have them 4 ft from the sidesand 2.5 ft speaker front to rear wall; dispersion and stereo effect are...

superb speaker
i got this speaker last week and i was really amazed from the sound,especially jazz,classical and latin music,the main strength of this speaker is the midrange and tweeters,cabinets are well made,it really looks expensive,i used this speaker as my 2 front main for my HT and stereo music,really worth the money.

This is good buy high performance speaker you know it is 4 OHM's and does require at the least some high current amplifier rated at or near 4Ohm's.I am happy with it and just bought the LsiC center speaker.

Dare i say Holographic sound?
I got these from ASD new for $943.15 free shipping.They came in on 03/05/2012 and are an upgrade from my Polk Monitor 70's.I should say the M70's are a very musical speaker and are Polks Flagship in the Monitor line.But the LSi-15's are a Hugh Improvement!3 dimensional sound stage and like i said even Holographic imaging sound stage!For anyone looking too upgrade are even just looking for a really nice looking very well built speaker this is it!The photos on these web sites do them no justice at all, you must really see them in person.I read up on them as much as i could for there are no stores for me too audition them in person around where i live.They have a great track record and a ton of great reviews,Pro and people who actually own then.I now can say without a doubt they are worth ever dime you spend on them.

Polk's LSi series is its flagship speaker system. Being 4 ohm, it behooves one to ensure that the speakers are driven by a powerful receiver or consider separates (amp and Pre/Pro).The LSi15 shares the same acoustical qualities as that of its companion speakers: smooth (if understated) and defined. The Ring Radiator tweeter is the centerpiece for these speakers, which utilize internal crossovers to ensure the best possible sound reproduction.The LSi series is a very attractive piano gloss black and its connectors and cabinet are rock solid. Worth it!
This is Polk Audio's top end line, but this is a serious case of getting what you paid for. The audio reproduction these speakers are capable of, at the price level, is simply fantastic. I replaced a set of Polk RTI8s with right/left channel Lsi 15s, and top to bottom, there is simply no comparison. I have them set up in a 5.1 channel arrangement, with the LsiC as the center, and two RTIA4s at the surround channels. Denon 4308CI used as a processor to a outlaw 7125 amp driving the speakers, with the l/r channels passively bi-amped using the 6th and 7th channels on the outlaw. The positives:1. Full range response such that I no longer need to use a sub-woofer to supplement to bottom end on 2-channel listening.2. Incredibly detailed sound that brings out elements within music that were previously undetectable.3. Smooth top end that you wouldn't associate with Polks, which are often described as either "clear" or "harsh" depending on your point of...

Holds its own
I have recently bought a left and right channel of these LSi 15s and I paired them with my Martin Logan Aeon i speakers. The LSi 15s hold there own with the Martin Logans, which cost 3 times as much. The MLs are a little more transparent and have a crisper high end, but not by much. When you play the LSi 15s you are listening to one of the best speaker bargains on the market today. Well made and designed. They are a beautiful speaker as well. When you listen to the MLs and the LSi 15s at the same time the sound is awesome and they complement each other very well. I know it sounds hard to believe but it's true. Speaker placement is critical for both speakers. If you follow the manufactures recommendations placement is fairly easy. You should have a fairly powerful amp at least 90 watts to really get the most from them. The only negative about the LSi 15s is the spikes and feet. This is a minor concern.

Polk Audio LSi15 and LSi series surround 7.1 speaker system
I recently upgraded my Denon 2801 5.1 receiver to the Denon 4310Ci 7.1 and wanted to upgrade the entire speaker set, except for the Velodyne sub woofer. There are many choices available for the $5K price range. My overall goal was to have all matching speakers and they must sound good for both movies and music. I read many reviews and listened to several brands; B&W, Kilpse, Definitive Tech, Vieanna Acustics,Polks RTi and LSi series. Ultimately I selected the Polk LSi for it performance, looks, and cost.The 7.1 speaker setup I selected are Polk LSi15 for fronts, LSi9 for front wide, LSiC for center, and LSi7 for rear surround. All of these speakers were purchased from Amazon except the LSi15. I originally purchased the LSi15 from a supplier through Amazon but had to return them because it was not new as it was stated.
