Keep Track to Succeed!
This is pedometer is Consumer Reports #1 rated digital pedometer- and I can see why. It's extremely light weight and really easy to use with just four big buttons on the front. Here's a few of its best features:-it can accurately senses steps in your belt, pocket, OR purse!-it has a large display for the visually impaired-it has a 7 day history so you can see progress (or lack of)-it calculates calories and distance in addition to stepsI'd recommend this little device to anyone who wants to lose weight- just begin one day, and the next day, see if you can maintain or beat your previous step record. Now how easy is that?So what DIDN'T I like about it? Not much. Perhaps the ONLY sort of negative thing I can say is that you will need a tiny screwdriver to open the back of it to put in the battery. Other than that, if you're looking to increase your activity a little to improve your health, look no further. Also recommend...

Best of Breed: The Gold Standard Among Pedometers
Since getting attached to pedometers a couple of years ago, I've gone through at least a dozen--Digiwalkers, Oregon Scientifics, Omrons. Sometimes the clips would break (Digiwalkers have no spring clip), or the cover would snap off, or they would prove highly inaccurate, or they would be bulky, or they would be too "versatile" and intricate to be practical for someone who was simply looking to get in 10,000 steps for the day. For this reason, I recommended the Sportline 330 as a comparatively rugged, accurate, and inexpensive step counter that, if need be, could be replaced with minimal financial damage. But recently I saw this "high end" Omron at Walgreen's and thought I'd give it a spin. Its primary allure: it claims to be so sensitive that you don't need to wear it on a belt or some other outer wear. Just drop it in your shirt pocket or purse and forget about it.Guess what? The Omron people aren't pulling your leg. This is indeed a very sensitive little...

Great gadget! Makes you mindful of your activity levels.
I bought this gadget with the intent of monitoring my daily steps to get an idea of where I was currently to establish some sort of baseline so that I could get a reality check on my activity levels. I opened the box, read the easy directions, set up my personal step measurement (just measure off the distance of your 10 steps), and clipped it on my pants and forgot about it for the day. I was surprised to find out that a corpse could probably move around more during the day than me! Over the next 6 days, (this pedometer keeps track of 7 days of steps for you); I literally stepped up my game and went from 756 steps with NO aerobic exercise on day 1, to 7,880 steps with 30 minutes of nonstop aerobic exercise on day 3! Every day has been getting easier to achieve the 10,000 "normal" steps, and increasing the aerobic steps too (which are tracked separately). I can press the mode button, check out how many miles my steps translate to, kilocalories burned, aerobic steps, and compare it...

Excellent pedometer and software
I think this is an excellent pedometer -- it does the job well and accurately. It counts your steps whether it is clipped on, in your pocket or in a purse. The auto-reset to zero at midnight helps keep you honest. Like the software - a couple of clicks and your data is automatically uploaded. It shows your results on a daily, weekly, monthly, and annual basis. Omron is the only company I have seen that provides you with software.I think the manual that comes with the device could be slightly improved but here are some tips that may help you with setting it up and using it for the first time:(1) With the back cover off, make note of the serial number. It is engraved into the case in tiny letters near the bottom. It is a six character mix of letters and numbers. You'll need this for registration later.(2) Before starting to configure your pedometer, you will need to calculate the length of your stride. Pick a starting point and walk 10 regular...

Excellent Pedometer - Great software - Get motivated!
I have not used pedometers much, but really like this unit for a number of reasons. First, it is quite compact and can comfortably fit in a pocket and not feel bulky (you can wear with a clip too or hang it from a cord off a belt). Second, it really seems to accurately count steps. I tried it a few times by counting 50 or 100 steps with the unit in my pocket and it seems to be right on target as a step counter. To measure distance, I walked a 100 feet a couple of times to set my stride. With the stride in place, the distance measure seems pretty accurate. I walked a known distance (about a mile and a half) and then looked at both the step count and distance. The distance was a little short, which meant I needed to make a slight adjustment to the value of the stride. I made the same walk again and got the calculated distance was exactly on target. Conclusion: This is an accurate pedometer in terms of counting steps and estimating distance.I also really...

Walk a mile in my shoes!
What an impressive little device this is. The device is highly accurate on the waistband. The purse option hasn't really worked too well for us, but it does come close. The coolest part of this thing is the ability to download the information to your PC and track your progress and goals. When we first got it, we thought 10,000 steps was a breeze. We were way WRONG! 10,000 steps is a lot of walking. I mean a lot. We were coming up more than half short of the recommended 10,000 and didn't even realize it.It's very sleek in it's design. The overall look is that of an egg cut in half. It does not have a proprietary USB link, if you have a device with a smaller USB end rather than the standard (MP3 players and GPS devices sometimes use the smaller one) you can use an existing one, just in case you lose the one that is supplied. It's really sweet that it resets itself at midnight every day and stores your previous data for you to download at your...

Best Pedometer I've Owned
I've tried several pedometers over the years, but this one is definitely the best. Other pedometers have fallen off my waistband, not counted steps if they were a little bit sideways, counted far too many steps, and just plain not worked after only a short time.I bought this Omron in December and it is now the end of January. It has a high quality case that feels solid, unlike others that feel so fragile that normal handling has made them fall apart. It counts accurately, I don't have to worry about keeping it in exactly the right position because it counts steps correctly as long as it is vertical. That means it can be any which way in a pocket or bag as long as it isn't laying flat like it would on a table. The 7 day memory is nice too if you want to track your steps per day over time. You can look back and see your step total. It also calculates distance and calories and something called aerobic steps. The aerobic steps is just a smaller number than the...

Excellent choice!
I couldn't be more pleased with this product!Attaching the safety leash requires reading theinstructions carefully, but they are clear if you studythe pictures. There is no way you could lose thispedometer, as it has a sturdy clip in addition to the safety leash. I have carried it in my gym bag when walking to/from work, and it seems to count steps when carried as well as when attached to your belt. If you buy this, I don't think you'll be disappointed.

Dad loves it
I bought this item for my 70-something dad for Father's Day. He loves it, reporting that it is easy to use and provides him with a great deal of information. He specifically likes that it records both "regular" steps throughout the day as well as "aerobic" steps. It provides daily as well as weekly analysis of steps taken, calories burned and distance walked. It also monitors heart rate. He is planning to buy this pedometer for others.

Paid for itself many times over
Lost one pedometer (expensive one from my wife) the first week of wearing one. Got a leash and haven't lost one in months since, though at least 4 times have found pedometer hanging from leash. The fact that I also wear a fanny pack while walking may increase my loss rate, having that rubbing against it. So leash may be less essential for you than for me.

it does the job
I have an Omron Pedometer that works beautifully....the only design fault is that the the security clasp is made of plastic which eventually broke......I replaced the clasp with the safety leash which works very well. It is a very simple metal device (think the clasp on a pair of suspenders with a 10" connecting strap) which takes the worry out of losing the pedometer. The cost of shipping was more than the leash but it was/is a good purchase...... a wise move if you're concerned about the possible loss of your Pedometer

Although your pedometer has a belt clip, add a pedometer leash for extra insurance that your pedometer does not hit the ground if it somehow falls off your waistband. The leash attaches to your pedometer at one end, and a metal clip to your waistband ensuring that you never lose your pedometer. Top to learn more

Passable and worth the price
Bought as a replacement for the pocket leash and alligator clamp that came with an Omron Walking Style Pedometer. When the pedometer is carried loose in a pocket it NEEDS the lanyard and clamp, or I found it will lose up to half the steps I take. Clamping it -- even on a leash -- keeps the pedometer in synch with your hip motion, and thus able to record every step. This leash came with two alligator clamps -- one plastic and one metal. I choose the plastic clamp, as it seemed closest in appearance to the Omron original. I have found that the replacement plastic clamp does NOT have the clamping bite -- the hold -- the original had. It works most of the time, but comes loose too much. (I can not speak for the metal clamp, since I discarded it when I installed the replacement lanyard.)Still, this replacement lanyard and clamp makes the pedometer count steps correctly and the price was right.Shipping was quick too!

Using Pedometers
Purchased the Omron Hj-112 digital pedometer. It records steps well. There is no reset for starting a walk exercise time. It records all steps in your pocket. Setting the stride portion has been difficult. The directions are very brief and erroneous. I've needed the group members help to accurately get the pedometer set via stride. Next go round I would get the higher priced one with a reset button on the front as my colleagues have.

Ode to Pedometer
Product is sturdy and seems to keep good records. I wore another ped for a day, at the same time as some vary in their accuracy. Seems to be just fine and I like the fact that I can check on a previous day's activity by hitting the memory button.

Amazingly durable and accurate
I've been wearing this pedometer daily for seven months. Not only does it keep an accurate count of both regular steps and aerobic steps, but it is very durable. I took a hard fall and landed on it, and other than a small crack in the plastic cover, it was fine. I also ran it through the washing machine and dryer - it still works (after taking it apart to dry). I'm delighted with the item and can't recommend it highly enough. It's a world different from a cheap pedometer. I especially like that it keeps seven days of info in the memory. Two quirks to look out for: one, it needs to be completely vertical to work well. I wear mine clipped to a front jeans pocket, but have noticed that if it sags forward or gets turned slightly backward, it doesn't record steps accurately. This is easily avoided and no big deal, but don't think you can stick it in a shirt pocket or, in my experience at least, on a purse, as advertised. Second, be sure to use the safety clip. I can't tell you...

Best pedometer I've ever owned
I've owned several pedometers, but this is the best one by a long shot. If you calibrate it properly in the beginning, it'll keep a very accurate step count. Some more expensive pedometers come with fancy bells and whistles like computer software so you can track your activity level and so on... It's all crap. Buy this excellent quality, reliable pedometer and use free online program to track your activity level and you'll easily save $20.As a side note, I also row while using it and it keeps pretty good track of my strokes since it registers the movement of my hips as a step. I also have friends who say it works well while bike riding, so it's very versatile. Its versatility is a direct reflection of its accuracy, after all. I've owned several pedometers, including others by Omron, but nothing has been as accurate or durable as this model. I really can't recommend it enough.

Best Pedometer on the market
I have used countless different brands of Pedometers going all the way back to the late 1980s. The Omrom Pedometer is by far the most accurate, reliable and the easiest to use of all the Pedometers I have ever tried. I give these as gifts to my friends and they all love them. I also like the aerobic steps function. This pedometer is more basic than some of the others out there, but performs all the necessary functions brilliantly. There is no need for all the fuss and extra stuff that others have. I originally found out about the Omrom Pedometer after reading a scientific article about the "new breed" of Pedometers. This one was found to be the most accurate at measuring steps using a completely different kind of technology than others.
