EXCELLENT MOWER
This is the first major redesign of the Black & Decker 19" Cordless Mower since its introduction. I bought one of the first CMM1000's shortly after it was introduced in 1996. It worked great for 14 years, with only two battery replacements in that time. I gave it to a friend who is using it and it continues to give great performance.The CM1936 has a customer removable battery allowing easy battery interchange for large yards with long grass. My yard is about 12000 square feet and can normally be mowed with one charge. The blade has been redesigned for longer run time. The charger recharges the battery a useable amount in 4 hours.The height of all four wheels can be readjusted in less than 1 second. The run interlock is now a bail bar (like the original CMM1000) which is nicer than the lever on the CMM1200. I wish the new mower had the battery indicator that was provided on the original CMM1000. Perhaps it can be added as a special accessory key...

A Cordless mower that is superior
I bought the cordless electric on the feature that it had an easy removable battery that I could charge in the garage while storing the mower in the outdoor shed. And this mower has that option or you can also charge it directly without removing the battery.Another advantage is the mower handle easily collapses and folds up allowing the mower to be vertically flipped and stored simply on the garage floor in a minimum of space.The rear grass catcher is removed by simply lifting the spring door and lifting up and then replacing is also that simple.The mowing height adjustment was the simplest encountered, squeeze the release lever on the rear wheel while observing the height gauge on the front wheel for the desired height. Could not be easier or more simple.Here's the clincher. The easy out of the carton instructions had you raising and locking the handles, cutting the front part of the carton open and wheeling the mower straight out...

Buyers remorse? Comparison chart / FAQ
We have an earlier generation of this mower (CMM1000) and recently got the Toro. I've studied the specs and this is probably the only other one I'd consider seriously. Perhaps it's buyers remorse or the grass being greener on the other side of the fence but as much as I like the Toro, I wish I'd taken a closer look at the CM1936. Good! Better than previous version.
I purchased the Black and Decker Cordless 24 volt mulching mower (CMM1000) in 2005 and have been using it ever since. When I had the opportunity to upgrade to this mower (CM1836) I jumped on it.I wanted a cordless electric mower to:- Not have to deal with gas and oil- Be able to mow without feeling like I need a shower due to exhaust fumes- Save my hearing- Keep me from re-injuring my right shoulder by not having to pull the cord to start- MulchThe CMM1000 did all of those fantastically for 4 1/2 years for me and the CM1836 improves on most features. I'm really happy to have the newer version. I know I have just barely used this mower and I promise to update this review if anything changes. It's won me over from gas
About 13 years ago I bought a battery powered lawn mower made by Black and Decker (I think it was their first). In many ways it was perfect: quiet, clean, easy to use. It only had one minor flaw that might discourage the user: it didn't actually cut grass. It was more of a "grass brusher", or perhaps a "grass massager" - bathing the grass in a gentle breeze without harming any wildlife, or grass.I'm happy to say that 13 years later B&D seem to have worked the bugs out.I've been able to use this mower three times now and I'm happier with it each time: it's light, quiet, easy to use, and yes, it cuts grass. I've even used it to mulch up small branches after pruning with great results. While not nearly as powerful as my gas mower it actually does a better job of mulching, perhaps because it was clearly designed with mulching in mind. With my gas mower it always seemed like an afterthought. I did put the bag on it once: it switches from mulching to bagging...

Great mower
We have owned the Neuton ce5 battery mower for years. it worked so well we were going to buy another until i saw this 36 volt b&d mower for $80 less.the black and decker is much more powerful and cuts a 18" swath compared to the neutons 14". i took my new b&d mower out and mowed all our lawns and a bunch of weeds in a field and it still had power to spare. the neuton would have run out long ago.the only thing i do not like about the b&d is that you can not take the battery out. it is convenient to be able to take out the neutons battery and charge it in the garage or house.besides that it is a much better deal than the neuton.

Just what I was looking for...
I got my Neuton mower this spring and have used it four or five times. At this point it has performed very well and has lived up to all my expectations. I have a relatively small lawn that covers about 30% of my 1/2 acre lot and I didn't want to deal with the mess and noise of a gas mower. My main concern with the Neuton was if it would hold the charge long enough to finish my lawn... as I said it is relatively small but is spread out on all 4 sides of the house so mowing the whole thing takes a fair amount of time. So far I've noticed no lessening of power even as I get to around 45 min of mowing.Highlights:- Easy to set up, only took about 20 min- No gas or oil to worry about- Battery is easy to use, just keep it plugged in when not in use. How hard is that?- Quiet... I heard my phone ringing while I was mowing. I sure wish all my neighbors had one of these...- Easy to store, fits in my shed standing on its nose- Simple to use- Way...

Very satisfied
I was committed to purchasing an electric lawnmower. Unfortunately, there aren't a lot of options and even fewer reviews so was hard to decide! Ultimately went with the neuton and have been very happy. It is extremely light and easy to maneuver and turn which is great b/c we have a couple of hills and narrow spaces on our lawn. I was worried b/c it is more narrow than some mowers (maybe 14"?) but that hasn't been a problem at all; in fact, it makes many parts of the yard easier to mow. Charges quickly and we haven't had any battery problems. Never ran out of charge on our small lawn (takes about 45"). It is quiet (not noiseless, but I can cut early in the morning without waking the neighbors) and cuts well. I'm thrilled not to have a cord, and it is easy to start and stop. Haven't used the mulcher or any other fancy accessories (the local sales guy said not to bother with buying those).I would buy this again without hesitation and would recommend to others. I...

Not quite ready for prime time
Neuton Electric MowerFor those with no time to read this in its entirety, the bottom line is this: not ready for prime time. However, given that conclusion, I'm not sure that I will be taking advantage of the six month return policy. The Neuton would definitely never satisfy my neighbor who wants to have a putting green lawn, but then, I'm not nearly as concerned as he. All I want is something relatively green. If you have a small level lot and don't want it to look like a putting green, the Neuton is probably for you. This review is based on using the Neuton from June until September.Pros:1. Extremely quiet. I don't have to wear ear plugs anymore. You don't know the lawn is getting mowed unless you see the person pushing the mower.2. Not a point source of pollution. All Power America Battery Reel Mower
First for a frame of reference, I like and prefer the manicured appearance that only a reel mower can provide, and I have the Brill Lexus battery powered, made in Germany, which I have been using for several years. The Brill is good to excellent in its construction, but it lacks the power to cut through very thick grass when its mechanical bypass device kicks in and the reel stops turning as the mower makes a raucously loud and annoying ratcheting sound. The Brill works well, but my experience is that it lags and can't keep up in the spring when the grass has a greater moisture content. In contrast, the All Power reel mower is made in China, and it's design and materials reflect its cheaper price. Where it excels, is that it is much more powerful than the the Brill. However, like most electric mowers, it will be overwhelmed with grass that is growing rapidly and is full of moisture after several days of Spring showers. My husband absolutely loves this edger
He love it because he can turn it its side to edge along concrete or walk ways and the turn it face down to trim down over grown weeds and the with a flip of a switch to back to mowing the lawn.From the look of it I worried that it would get in the way of mowing but my husband states that he does not find this to be the case at all.According to him "this is absolutely great! I can mow, edge, and weed wack without having to go to the shed and get out another tool."update:My husband has been using this attachment for over 4 months now and consitently on 3 different lawns. It stays attached when he puts it in the mower in the truck to mow a rental property.Even with all this use and riding along in the back of the truck we have had no problems with this attachment and it still works great.

Really convenient
Bummer that the previous reviewer had reliability issues with his Trimmer/Edger attachment. I bought mine with my Neuton 6.0 and it's worked fine, so seeing the other review, I felt I should mention how well it actually works.And the answer is, very well. It's a powerful little trimmer, and the convenience of being able to just throw the switch on the handle of the mower to swap between mowing and trimming can't be beat. I use this to edge, and to hit tall grass/weeds near the dropoffs or fences where the mower "can't cut it."The only downside is that it's not as easily maneuverable as a hand-held trimmer. Because it's mounted on one side of the mower, you may have to swing the mower around and reverse directions to be able to put the trimmer into the right spot. Not a big deal.I have a nice gas trimmer as well, but it never gets used as this is so much more convenient, and no messing with gas/oil.

Not perfect, but it is a time saver
I'm not getting rid of my dedicated edger yet but this is a useful accessory for cleaning up borders and fencelines in between dragging out the edger and weed-eater. The edger does have a somewhat limited effective cutting range and to do the edges along the sidewalk I have to lift the rear of the Neuton off the ground to get the cutting cord to work. Even with these limitations I think it is a useful accessory and I'm glad I purchased.
