Incredible Tool
Putting my 2 cents in as I'm shocked this thing isn't getting more 5 star reviews. It's tough, Milwaukee has a great line of impact hex attachments for it that all come in one kit and fit in the driver instantly without any play, and the belt attachment is really handy. Yes, it only works with the m18 batteries... get over it. I use this tool weekly as a homeowner, have had it for about a year, and there's just nothing bad to say about it.

compact but powerfull
I was using a 18volt milwaukee drill driver to set some concretbolts it wouldn't drive them all the way in. So i used the 18voltimpact driver. It set them all the way in with no problem. Bothdrill use the same battery.I think this is a great tool & i would recomened it.

Red Lithium
This kit came with red lithium batteries, one battery was in a factory sealed bag and the other was installed on the driver. The cells are manufactured in Korea with further assembly in China and carries a TWO year warranty, the driver carries a five year warranty. I was hoping for Japanese cells considering the price. The reds have good capacity. If someone manages to drain one of these batteries faster than the second battery can be charged on the thirty minute charger they are really doing something, I was driving five inch lag bolts into hardwood for a couple of hours and that's after I drilled pilot holes and never needed to swap batteries, they all went in effortlessly btw.The driver and the charger was laid bare in the case, the drivers outer sleeve had deep scratches in the metal from what appears to be from being placed in a vise, along with slight marring from being banged against the case in transit, it was nice of Milwaukee to save me the discomfort of scratching up...

What an Animal !!
I have many of the M18 cordless tools. I can't sing the praises of these tools enough - especially this impact driver.-It is truly compact - goes places the drill/driver can't.-It is quite light - including with the full size battery attached.-It has tons of torque, and has never failed me. It has so much muscle, my full size Milwaukee 120v. impact drill is rarely used anymore. The M18 drill/driver/impact plays second fiddle to this little impact driver.-In the last ten months it has smoked through thousands of 2-1/2" torx screws, 500 5" torx lags, 250 7" torx lags, 5,000 1-1/2" washer-head screws, and lots more.-It has been dropped, kicked around, and generally mistreated by willing, but occasionally clumsy, helpers. It keeps chattering away to this day.-When it comes to fasteners, it is the clearly preferred by everyone that has put some time on it, and is now the first tool that disappears for tasks.-The batteries (have three of them...

Drills Don't Compare for Driving
I received this tool in the combo kit with the compact drill/driver, which I bought from Amazon largely for the drill.I had originally bought the cheap Porter Cable 4 part Combo Kit from Lowes (Drill, Reciprocating Saw, Circular Saw, Light), only to have the forward/reverse control on that drill break within a year. I could still use it theoretically, but only for removing screws. Since I already had the batteries with my kit, I went to Lowes and purchased the bare tool Porter Cable Impact Driver ($40 at the time), and ended up using that for months for most of my work (hanging sheetrock, HVAC systems, etc). Eventually, it became more of a pain to pre-drill holes, or do anything with a bit that needed a chuck to fit onto it.I made a couple trips to Home Depot and some other Hardware stores, and tried out the tools. I knew Milwaukee had one of the best reputations, and wanted something that was ergonomic, and used the Lithium-Ion batteries, and luckily the...

Impacts are the way to go
The only people that will tell you an impact driver is basically a drill are the ones that have never used one! I will never use a drill to screw again. I'm not a carpenter but my friend has a building company and he swears by impacts for screwing as well.As for this specific tool, I switched from a Makita which did the job, but when the M18 line came out I had to have it. This impact feels much more durable in your hand than the Makita. I have both the compact batteries and the XC models and would recommend anyone to make sure they have both in their arsenal. The compact complements the size of this impact but for long drawn-out jobs it's nice to have the more powerful battery

Milwaukee's Catching On
This is a great driver! I consider impact drivers my most important cordless tool and so want to compare this with my favorite. I have only owned the Makita BTD141, and so will only compare it to that. It specs out having more torque than the BTD141 (1400 lbs vs 1330 lbs), but it wasn't noticeable enough to tell a difference, even with larger lags. The Milwaukee is slightly heavier, but again, not so much as to make much of a diffference. The light on this tool only stays on while the trigger is pulled, the BTD141 stays on for about 5 seconds after, a good feature that I hoped Milwaukee would include. The sleeve on the Milwaukee is shorter and closer to be body of the driver, making it a little harder to grab, especially if wearing gloves. It also requires being pulled out to insert and remove bits, whereas the Makita only requires it to be pulled out to remove. The battery capacity of the MIlwaukee is 2.6 amps vs 3.0 amps for Makita. Not significant, but none the less, it has...

Greatest Tool Ever Made
The 18 volt impact is the very best on the market i have used all other kinds of impact tools and nothing surpasses this tool it works for every job i have used it for. It has never let me down and with the two XC High Capacity batteries it has more than enough power to get the job done. I have used it to change the tires on my 09 Yamaha Rhino and it works perfect and has the right amount of ft lbs to handle it. This impact driver will drive a 6 inch deck screw with ease it will also torque bolts, lag bolts, and lag screws with no problem so if you are tired of wasting money then this is the tool for you i would give it 10 stars all the way!!!!!!!!!!

Good Strong Impact Driver
This is a good strong tool. I love being able to check the battery status by simply pressing a button, but I have noticed that the M18 tools continue operating for a while after the last battery light goes off.My biggest complaint is that the trigger control is fair to poor (I cannot net near 0 rpm) A good impact driver must have good trigger control, otherwise it is too easy to strip screws. With the 2.6 ah battery this tool is a tad teavy, with the flat battery it is just right. The person who gave the negative review on this tool, should give their rating based on the merits if the tool itself and not the changes of the battery system. This low rating should not counted against this tools overall rating.
