Among many things, Campbell has volunteered as a counselor in training (CIT) at scout camps, and her scouting group has recently gone to Savannah, Georgia to celebrate the 100 year anniversary of girl scouting. She joined the Venturing program out of a desire for more adventure, and being a part of the Venturing program also means that she can be considered both a boy scout and a girl scout. In addition to his boy scout troop, DeAtley is also part of a program called Venturing , which is a co-ed program for teens between the ages of 14 and 21 that branches off of the Boy Scouts of America. McMillen has been a scout ever since first grade, and he finds the boy scout program unique because of the close community that teaches valuable lessons. DeAtley enjoys the scouting program because of the responsibility it places on the participating scouts. She has been very involved in scouting ever since she was five years old and really enjoys all of the experiences that come with scouting. His fellow scouts help each other with their Eagle scout projects. The girl scout program alone wasn't enough to satisfy Campbell. "It stands out from other programs in that it is more scout-led (or at least in my troop and Venturing Crew) than any other program like it," DeAtley comments. Just like many students across America, Uni students are making a difference through scouting. "Before I just [thought] the environment was something to exploit," says Li. This is why Li chose to plant a garden for his own eagle scout project, which will also impact Uni this summer.

Six of the 13 girls made it to Cali Girl, an incentive level in the Cookie Program for girls who sell 750 or more boxes of Girl Scout cookies. The girls decided on a photo collage of their Girl Scout troop for the capsule. Debbie is hoping to teach the girls the Girl Scout Promise in sign language. Both the girls and their parents are dedicated to the Girl Scouting life. Girl Scouts of San Gorgonio Troop 803 in Redlands, California, won the Best Cookie Marketing photo contest earlier this March. This wholehearted devotion to Girl Scouting is what lead to their victory in the Best Cookie Marketing photo contest. Pageant life is deeply committed to community service and both Miss Barstow and Teen Miss Barstow presented themselves as excellent role models for any Girl Scout to hold in high regard. Five of the Girl Scouts can speak Spanish and one co-Leader, Debbie Anderson, even knows sign language. Troop 803 is a diverse group of 13 girls, ages 5 to 14, and Troop Leaders. Not bad for a Girl Scout troop only two years old.
