GREAT COMFORT DRINK! AND NO GUILT!
Ferrara Instant Espresso Coffee, 2-Ounce Glass Jars (Pack of 6)I have been using this brand of Ferrara, Instant Espresso Coffee for about a decade now, often daily in cool weather. You don't need to use a lot of the product to get a full body cup of coffee with crema on top, so the price is right for me! I have tried other instant espresso coffees and I prefer this one. Originally I was in a gourmet store and this is where I found this coffee. Then after trying to locate this brand at a place with a better price tag I found it at World Market, but then they stopped carrying it, however, perhaps they have it back on their shelves again, I do not know. Soon later I began buying it from Sunset Foods in Highland Park, IL. They, like World Market, had it in stock only now and then so I began to order it special from them. After a few orders I decided to check Amazon since Amazon has become so much more of a store for me than books and movies! Now I have an Amazon...

Taste and Price Pleaser
I had been ordering another instant espresso coffee, but when I went to make and new order I found the price had almost tripled! Wow! What a shock! A little research and I found that there was a recent new owner of the company and, apparently, they were looking for a quick profit on their investment. I also found out that this price increase was the cause of my local grocers no longer carrying that "gold" Italian labeled product. My usual routine is to fresh grind my coffee beans and use a french press to brew my morning coffee. I enjoy a full bodied strength more like a European than American weaker flavored coffee. Ferrara was a good choice for my individual taste. I own an espresso machine and make my own brew on occasions and, of course, that is the best. But for an alternative, for me Ferrara has been an excellent price pleaser and a satisfying taste.

I LOVE IT
I love coffee, but I also love not having to messing with the coffee maker sometimes. This instant espresso is the best I have tried and I have tried about 7 different brands. I do not drink it plain, I use it in iced coffee drinks, frappes or mochas.Not overly acidic at all, I find that if I drink it on an empty stomach that I don't get a tummy ache like brewed coffee can sometimes induce.It melts instantly in hot water (no sand dunes left swirling at the top if your cup), is lightweight so it travels wonderfully (a godsend on backpacking trips) and is very versatile to have around for cooking:-- I but a tsp. in a batch of brownies to deepen the dark chocolate flavor-- I put a Tbs in a BIG batch of chili to compliment the spices and add extra richness-- I add a bit to Mexican mole sauce for punch-- I also put it in: chocolate icing, truffles, chai tea with milk for a java chai latte, coffee drink mixes for extra umph, etc...

Makes Great Iced Coffee!
I had originally bought this product for hot coffee, but I heard that it dissolves in cold water and since I love iced coffee I thought I'd give it a try. It works great for iced coffee and I no longer have to spend money on mediocre iced coffee from coffee shops.I just put about a tablespoon of the espresso powder in a cup and add about 12 ounces of cold water. After stirring for a minute or two, the espresso dissolves perfectly. I add a little liquid creamer (I like to use the flavored kind so I don't have to sweeten), stir, and I have the most delicious (and easiest!) iced coffee ever. I keep a jar of this at work and make it at the water cooler. You may want to adjust the amounts of espresso, water, and creamer for your taste.

BEST INSTANT COFFEE!!!
Love this espresso! I was camping and forgot our coffee and had to go into the local market and get some instant coffee(which I hate), and we stumbled on Megaglia D'Oro. Everyone helped themselves to the Medaglia and they liked it. The next day my brother came to the campsite with a coffee kettle and brewed some coffee for everyone, and after a cup of the brewed coffee, they said they preffered the Medaglia. Good stuff! My only complaint is that it comes in a tiny jar.

Pretty good in a pinch
First off, there is no way this could be mistaken for real, fresh-from-the-machine espresso. It does smell a bit on the strange side when you open the jar, but it does get better once you make it, and it even manages to make a bit of crema. I originally bought it for baking, but I suspect I will be buying another jar for that purpose and keeping this one at work. I never intended to drink this, but after a few desperate mornings without enough caffeine, I caved and snatched it out of my cupboard on the way out the door.I'll admit, it's a pretty decent backup when I'm caught at the office with no cash for the coffee cart. It's extremely convenient to have on hand come 3 o'clock or so.If you can manage to think ahead in the morning and brew a few shots of espresso at home to bring with you, you're probably better off doing that. However, if (like me) you're lucky to get out with matching socks on, this is a great option.

Combine the remaining ¼ cup of flour, the remaining ¼ cup brown sugar, the instant espresso powder, and remaining ¼ teaspoon salt in a small bowl. Combine the oats, 1 cup of the brown sugar, ¾ cup of the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and the pinch of salt. Preheat oven to 325 degrees F. Line an 8-inch square baking pan with aluminum foil, allowing excess to hang over pan edges. Melt 8 tablespoons of the butter and stir into the oat mixture until combined. Use a rubber spatula to fold in the flour mixture, stirring until just combined. Melt the chocolate chips and the remaining 2 tablespoons butter in a large bowl, microwaving at 50% power in 30-second intervals, stirring after each.

1 1/2 teaspoons istant espresso powder mixed with 1 1/2 tablespoons warm water. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder and salt in a medium bowl Add milk and butter mixture all at once, and stir gently to combine. 2 1/4 teaspoons baking powder. 1/2 cup plus 2 tablespoons whole milk. If using vanilla bean, split the vanilla bean down the center, scrape the seeds out, and in a small bowl, rub the vanilla beans into the granulated sugar. 2 teaspoon vanilla extract or 1 vanilla bean. Divide the espresso batter between the twelve muffin cups. 3 Tablespoons cold, unsalted butter, cut into 1/2-inch cubes. Stir the espresso and water mixture into the remaining batter. 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour. 1/2 cup all-purpose flour. 3 1/2 tablespoons sugar.

Stir in the espresso powder until well combined. Pour melted chocolate mixture out onto foil, spreading with offset spatula to thickness of 1/4 inch or so. Scatter ingredients evenly over chocolate, finishing with the salt. I think about seasonality of ingredients, the menu, tastes of the guests, time I have to work with, cost, best way to serve it, number of guests and so on. Sometimes the right recipe doesn't exist so it needs to be created. Melt the chocolate chips in medium bowl over saucepan of simmering water, stirring until melted smooth. For me, the search for the right dessert is a thrilling hunt for just the right thing.

I think Espresso could actually be categorized as ‘a magical powder that when added to chocolate becomes an elixer of the Gods ‘ and this sauce is the perfect example of marrying the smokey, bitter and rich components of coffee and chocolate. Even if added in very small amounts, there is something about any type of coffee the brings a more intense flavor to chocolate because they are so compatible, but added in enough quantity to actually discern that taste, well, it’s one of my... I suppose that instead of posting the same recipe with a twist that I could just go back to that older post and include some revisions but I couldn’t do that…if you knew the difference you wouldn’t want me to do that. Maybe this is not acceptable use in terms of posting but I just had to. I have a very old recipe for a hot fudge sauce that hardens when it hits the cold of ice cream. Yes, and it’s a recipe I love to share with friends and family mostly through the making of a very simple sundae. Granted, I also added some toasted walnuts instead of pecans as stated in the original recipe and I should have known that would up the ante for me too.
