Great Little Puter!
Okay, so I have only had this computer for like a week so not a whole lot I can say right now. I got it out of the package (which arrived within three days of ordering) and yes it is small, but cute. VERY light, like the size of a Stephen King novel and very portable too. Anyways, setup was simple, took about 10 minutes for the OS to install and boot for the first time. It found my WiFi immediately and I just had to enter the password to connect. Very easy to install programs, but I only installed Firefox and Advanced System Care at this point. Comes with Word but it is the starter edition, which is basic functionality of word. I freelance write so the basic Word is good for me.It seems to work like a charm, the webcam is nice and pretty good quality for a .3 MP. Took a couple pictures and they came out looking pretty good. The battery life is pretty good I am ranging about 3 hours to 3 1/2 hours, which is better than the 20 minutes I was getting on my previous but still...

Great Laptop, good enough keyboard
I've been using this Asus Netbook for about a month now, so I thought I'd give my initial impression of this device to help future buyers make a informed decision.First of buying a netbook was not my first choice, as I already have a 17" Toshiba laptop. However recently a friend/fellow grad student of mine purchased an Ipad and was showing it off. Out of jealousy I decided to get a tablet as well, but after reading about them online, got diverted to purchasing a netbook instead. I wanted a mobile computing device(since I walk or bike to school, mall, downtown etc, and a 17" laptop is just too heavy) on which to check mail do minor document editing, maybe play a game or too. For these reasons a netbook seemed a nicer, more productive alternative than a tablet. Now that you know the reason I bought this let me get to the pros and cons of the Asus netbook.Pros1. Its light and small. I had a HP mini back in 2008(which I gave to my sister) and it was at least 35...

good hardware, annoying software
The computer runs slow out of the box because of all the bloatware/adware/nagware. As soon as the computer boots, get rid of the bloatware. Go to start > control panel > uninstall programs, to remove bloatware. The Trend antivirus is the most annoying, throwing up a nag screen every 2 minutes. Next most annoying is Bing, a Microsoft browser toolbar. Be sure to uninstall Bing before installing Firefox to avoid Bing parasitizing Firefox. On the control panel uninstall page there is a turn off features option. Use the turn off features option to remove additional Windows baggage.Program updaters slow the computer. At the default settings the updaters run in the background and check for updates, download, and install continuously. Adobe, Asus, and Microsoft are the primary offenders. Asus updaters are notorious for crashing computers. The Microsoft updater had the bad habit of trying to update programs I had already uninstalled. Updaters are marketed as a convenience, but have...

Bang for the buck
I bought this ASUS netbook to use mostly for travel, especially out of the country. I have had it for a week. My overall impression is that this is a well made product that also looks more expensive than it is. It is lightweight, but solid. The setup is automatic, just turn it on and it does the rest automatically and with prompts. There is not too much bloatware, and I removed the Bing Bar and a few ASUS entertainment addons easily. It fits well in the Case Logic 10.2 netbook case and is very portable. It will be very easy to use for travel.The screen resolution is good, but very angle dependent, and the 10.1 inch screen size is adequate for email, web browsing, looking at photos, etc. Those are going to be the main uses for me, so I am pleased so far. The keyboard is surprisingly easy to use, and I had been concerned about the small size. I find the keys good sized and well spaced.The battery is lasting about 3 - 3.5 hours from a full charge...

Best for thinness and weight, 1GB RAM is fixed
The X101CH comes with a tiny power adapter (4.6x 2.8x 6cm) that plugs right into the wall. The keyboard is somewhat improved from the N455 based X101H. All surfaces are matte, non-reflective, including the screen. The older X101H and fanless X101CH are two of the thinnest and lightest netbooks due to a 7mm height hard drive and 3-cell battery.The 1GB RAM cannot be upgraded, as it is soldered on the motherboard. This makes a big difference in use. Compared to another netbook upgraded to 2GB, hard drive noise never ceases due to memory swapping activity.If you value lightweight and thinness (IMHO the raison d'tre for netbooks), also consider the Acer D270 which has a slightly larger power adapter, is slightly thicker with upgradable ("regular") 9.5mm hard drive and RAM. Works Great!
Okay so my original ASUS Netbook 1005HAB charger broke; the tip was wobbly so it wouldn't fit anymore. I was scared of 3rd party type of chargers because of their experience of sparks/fire hazard. I came to this charger. Excellent, same brand, except the LED light is green instead of blue. Overall, just perfect. Would recommend getting this charger.

Also Works With ASUS 1201N Netbook
It's not documented in the item description, but the part number shown here matched up with another vendor's part number that DID claim to work with my 1201N. I took a flier on it...and it worked just fine right out of the box.The only thing missing from the ASUS brick is the blue light. I especially appreciated that the cable attached to the power brick included the Velcro cable tie. FAST shipping. An overall positive experience.

Great for light computing use!
If you're looking for a very small/lightweight computer to use on the go then this would be a pretty good purchase. I currently use a Asus G73jh 17" laptop. So going from a 17" to a 10.1" laptop will really take awhile to get used to. This isn't a bad thing, it will just take awhile for you to adjust to a small screen. I do think it is priced a little high considering you can get mid size laptops for less than $100 more with better specs. The deal breaker was the portability of this netbook. It really can fit just about anywhere! I can even fit it on my glove compartment in my truck. Of course this netbook is not going to be faster than a full size laptop. It is MEANT for surfing the web and other light use. Not for playing games or editing videos. I was impressed though on how fast it actually is for the size.What I like:-Battery life seems pretty good.-Portability for transportation.-Surprisingly fast for being a netbook.-The design is much nicer...

Don't send a boy to do a man's job
From the title it seems as though I don't care for this little guy. That is not the case. This is a very useful netbook. It is not a genuine high power laptop. If that is what you want do not buy this product; however, if you are looking for a small lightweight email retriever that has some computational functions this is your guy. If you think about an Ipad and then realize it isn't a computer and then think about what this can do, for me there was no question. Good for what it is
This particular model comes with Windows 7 Home Premium instead of Windows 7 starter, which I think is an appropriate step up. Battery life is excellent and the keys are nicely spaced for easy typing. I wish it came with an SSD though and replacing the hard drive on your own is a bit involved. Most of the casing has a matte finish, as does the screen, but the glossy bezel around the screen and keyboard attracts dust and fingerprints. Also Asus replaced the separate mic and headphone ports in favor of a single mic/headphone port, which seems kind of dumb to me. Otherwise this is a pretty solid machine and works well for basic productivity tasks and web browsing.

Great unit
There are already enough detailed reviews of Asus products. I am sure you can get a lemon or a bad vendor that gives you aggravation. The Asus computers when all goes well are excellent.I bought this one to replace a damaged unit that I use for work purposes. I loved the software and hardware update, good package.So this unit is heavy duty by comparison to the consumer level Asus products. The hinges for the screen are much better than there consumer line. The case seems stronger than say an 1005 line and the mat finish stays cleaner looking than the glossier consumer line. I think it was a decent investment. Coupled with Windows 7 Professional you get a very nice package. The battery pack last as long as they claim. I can spend most of the working day disconnected from the charger.

Good things come in small packages
I had been searching for an alternative to toting my 5.5 lb laptop to client meetings and the courses I teach at business school for some time. The weight plus the bulkiness of the wheeled case in which I transported my computer made it increasingly clear I had to do something different.I considered a tablet, but A) did not want to switch to a MAC platform and B) was not interested in anything that would not work with business applications as it primary focus. Had considered netbooks before, but steered away from them based on mediocre reviews. Some drawbacks, but a solid product
I ordered this netbook because I wanted the functionality of a notebook with some of the features of a tablet (most notably, for reading and highlighting PDFs and the like). This little Asus has impressed me so far on both accounts. I read the reviews of the folks with the Win 7 starter/ 1GB RAM version, and must say I have not had any of the problems they have had with performance. The touch screen works well enough, although when I updated my video driver it stopped working, so I had to roll back. There are a few spots at the edge of the screen where it gets a little less accurate, but on the whole I find it works the way I need it to. The biggest problem I've had with the machine is, unfortunately, the charger. It ran very very hot for about a month, and now, not at all. I'm writing this with less than an hour left on my battery, and until a replacement charger gets to me (ordered separately- I have not been able to get through to Asus warranty support, so there...

Great little device
Overall, I'm pretty dang happy with this device. I need something portable that I can take serious notes on during meetings and that can work offline. Tablets aren't there yet, but this netvertible meets you in the middle. It's Missing the finesse of a tablet, but delivers on productivity where a tablet just can't.The device feels sturdy and well-built. My 3 year old got hold of it yesterday and I found it with the screen at a strange angle which made me think she'd broken the hinge, but it had held up just fine. Went right back into place.The keyboard isn't too loud for typing in a meeting. Boot-up time is negated by the ability to put it to sleep for extended periods of time by simply closing it.Don't expect to be awed by the screen or the battery. The touch experience and the viewing experience are both just average. I get about 3 solid hours of constant note-taking time before it cries for it's power cable. Works for me because it charges back...

I like this machine...a lot!
There are Wintel tablets out there, but they cost about $1,000. And did I really want a pure tablet with no keyboard?This is the replacement for my Asus 1008HA. It's a small computer, which I like. However, a lot of people don't care for the size of the keyboard, finding it too small. I don't mind it. More important, I like its feel much more than the keyboards of the two 1015PXs and 1018HAs that I tried on my way to this computer. The 1015PX purchased only two months ago as the best of the lot has been passed on to my son.)I chose this version of the T101MT because I wanted the 2GB of memory, the larger hard drive, and Win 7 Professional. I could have bought the less expensive version and upgraded the memory and operating system myself, saving a few dollars in the bargain, but I was happy to avoid the headache and have Asus do it for me.
