Great bang for the buck
I think the camera is an amazing buy for the money. I was able to unpack the contents & begin shooting good pictures IMMEDIATELY, using the fully automatic settings & the included partially charged battery. You will however, need to supply an SD Card as this is not included, not even a small one.The menu was a LITTLE confusing at first, but I quickly got the gist of things and am taking good pictures with the camera. Having used the full-auto settings and just dabbling with the advanced settings, I'm very pleased with the purchase and I think anyone who is either new to DSLR cameras or who doesn't want to spend over $1000 for a 'pro' or 'prosumer' DSLR will also be very happy with it right out of the box... or ANY of the T series cameras for that matter. If you're going to be shooting in RAW (or like I do in RAW+L) I recommend getting AT LEAST a 16GB card, if not a 32GB card. The included battery is a champ. It lasts a good long time & charges quickly. I...

Love it!
I purchased this camera a few days ago and I've had nothing but FUN with it! Outstanding Starter Camera
Looking over several cameras and choosing one for someone who has outgrown point and shoots, I came back to the Nikon D3000. By no means will this model blow away the seasoned photographer, however it does cover the basics and more. We picked it up and tried it out over the weekend.First time DSLR users will enjoy the Guide Mode. It literally walked us through different shoot scenarios via the fixed 3" LCD screen. An excellent tool, its step by step instructions allowed my niece to move from the operating booklet in no time. After a few more runs, I am sure that she will feel quite comfortable shooting in the manual mode. The quick shutter release was a nice surprise.Upon completing two days of shooting with the Nikon D3000, I walked away impressed. In manual mode, indoor shots were a balanced and perfect mix of shadow and color. As usual with shooting in low light, noise will make an appearance. However this system can be tweaked to deliver some outstanding...

Excellent first DSLR
My good old point-and-shoot camera (one of the Canon PowerShot series) had served me faithfully, but I was growing frustrated with its limitations. It seemed SO slow -- I was always missing great shots of my kids. The low-light performance was not particularly good. And I knew if I ever wanted to take more than basic family snapshots, I was going to need to bite the bullet and buy a DSLR. But they seemed so intimidating! After doing a ton of research online and trying out my sister-in-law's slightly older Nikon D40, I settled on the new D3000. And I love it! It really is easier to use than I could've imagined, and the shots I've gotten so far are amazing. I have no photographic training, but I am really delighted with the pictures I've been getting so far. I never could have imagined there would be SUCH a huge difference. I've actually gotten -sharp- pictures of my toddler in motion, rather than just kid-shaped blurs! I took it to a local park last night for a couple hours...

Super user friendly beginner camera with great AF system and image quality
Nikon D3000 is Nikon beginner / entry level camera. It replaces Nikon D60. There are three major upgrade of D3000 from D60. There are 11 Auto focus system with dynamic tracking and 3D tracking. This AF system is the same as Nikon mid-range/enthusiast camera, D90. Also, the LCD screen has been enlarged to 3 inches from 2.5 inches. However, the screen resolution remains the same at 230,000 dots. Also new is the Guide mode, this new mode is working as your tutor on basic photography. It helps you set up your camera, in the same time, it tells you about basic photography setting and concepts. Other than that, everything looks the same, buttons, placement, viewfinder and image quality/resolution.It is an average size for beginner DSLR camera. But if you are coming from compact camera, you might a bit surprise of the size. On the other hand, if you are coming from advanced DSLR cameras, then you will feel this camera is compact and light.Nikon D3000 has a thumb dial,...

GREAT BALANCE BETWEEN PRICE AND PERFORMANCE
The T3 is in the bottom of the entry level line up, but it performs very well. In terms of picture quality when compared with higher end models all the way to the 60D, it is difficult to determine any differences between them. The biggest sacrifices are ergonomics and features like frames per second and flip screens, but I have to tell you that it is a great starting point for any enthusiast wanting to discover DSLR photography. ISO 6400 is really helpful when compared with models like the XS which Canon stop showing in their website; the XS was Canon's entry level before the T3 but it only had ISO 1600 (useless). ISO 6400 with Photoshop Lightroom 3 makes unwanted grain a thing of the past. The camera is small and convenient; I recommend buying the body only and getting and upgraded lens instead of using the 18-55 kit les that comes with it. Good quality pictures come from high quality lenses, so save the money from the kit lens, and buy an upgraded lens like the...

Good camera
Listen if you are coming from a point and shoot don't even read the negative reviews, just get this camera and enjoy. The negative or neutral reviews are mainly from whinny wanna be "experts", Canon haters, and some real pros who have more demands and are sometimes difficult to please. I mean seriously who scrutinizes the very edge of a photograph for flaws in 10% or less of the shots? All I want to know is, did I capture the moment I was looking for in that middle area in better detail and clarity than my trusty canon point and shot? Yes? Then good, done, i'm happy. The only thing I suggest is don't treat this like a small point and shoot, its more delicate, keep it safe, get a bag for it, don't drop it in the diaper bag, etc etc. In short just bring it out for special occasions and keep it in a safe place when you are done shooting. Use the neck strap!! Buy a cheap point and shoot for the crazy moments. For example use the cheap P&S for the party and break out the dslr for the...

One of the best entry level DSLR for the price
I was extremely pleased with the photo quality. It was very easy to use. I specifically went for this because of the price. I was comparing this with T3i, although are differences like resolutions, HD video quality this one suited my needs and also this year they are selling at a very good price.Best bet if you need entry level DSLR and fine with 780P videos. I did lot of research and finally ended up with this when compared to Nikon / Sony etc.

Excellent camera
Years ago I used to use a Nikon F SLR with an assortment of wide angle, normal, and telephoto lenses. I would buy my film in bulk, load it into casettes, shoot, then develop and print in my home darkroom. Those days are long gone. Once digital arrived I used a variety of compact cameras whose main virtue was portability and convenience, which sometimes did not provide the sharpest pictures. With the birth of a grandchild on the way, my wife decided to look for a "really good" camera. She bought this camera at a one day sale at Electronics Expo as part of a kit that also included a 75-300mm lens, tripod, cleaning kit, 4GB SD card, and Bower camera bag--all for $600. After she brought it home the "photo bug" that had been dormant for so many years bit me again. I absolutely love this camera. Here is why.1. Picture quality is stunning. Don't be overly impressed with the 14.2 megapixels because unless you regularly make 16 x 20 pictures or larger, you won't really...

Impressive image quality and ease of use
I am a college photography instructor and have had a ton of cameras over the years. This is my go-to camera and the first one I pick up. I love the fact that the image stabilization is built into the body and not the lens. The Live View mode makes teaching with this so easy, as well as for a student to understand. The color quality from this Sony beats my old Nikon hands down. For the price, this is an AWESOME camera, and super easy to use, whether it be on auto or manual.

Product Description

The Sony A390 is a new 14 megapixel DSLR camera featuring a restyled design to make it easier to use. That’s exactly what we said about the the A390’s predecessor, the A380, which had one of the most uncomfortable handgrips that we’ve ever used on a DSLR. Sony have gone back to the drawing board and released the A390, essentially exactly the same as the A380 with a larger more traditional handgrip. The A390 retains all of its predecessor’s key features, with 14.2 megapixel sensor, a 2.7 inch tilting LCD screen, Live View, anti-dust system, ISO range of 100-3200, anti-shake system that’s built into the body, eye-start auto-focus system and Dynamic Range Optimiser. Great Camera but lacking a few key features
I want to start by saying this is a great camera. However there are a few things that made me return it and get a different camera:1. Continuous shooting. VERY slow. Almost too slow. They say it's 2.5 per second, but it felt like maybe 1.5 per second. It's not a huge issue, but my expectation was such that I thought it would be faster. It was really surprising and i couldn't get over it.2. Battery. I took it out one afternoon and only got 50 shots before the battery died. Which takes me to my next point:3. Accessories- i saw some accessories, but none of them where really clear as to whether or not they fit this model. Also-there where two types of accessories, expensive and bottom level. Other brands had a full range and clearly specific to models. Case in point: look for a battery grip for this model camera and you'll see what i mean. Now, onto the Good-1. you can use Minolta lenses with this camera. There are literally thousands upon...

Cannon EOS T2i
This is our first step to a digital SLR. We have an EOS Rebel G that we've had for a Long Time. This camera is easy to use right out of the box...after you charge the battery that is. It has a tremendous amount of possibilities, which I am sure we'll hardly scratch the surface. The package came with a USB card reader that makes upload of pictures a snap. The tripod is a nice addition also. I have not even charged the spare battery that came with it...maybe one day this one will get low and need a charge. Battery life seems to be great.
