Stellar remixes of an already phenomenal album.
BT is an amazing musician. He has been a favorite of mine since I picked up back in 99. He has never disappointed me since. Though I have to say some of the remixes floating around out there of BT's stuff have been hit or miss. Luckily they all hit on this album. I can listen to this straight through then just let it start all over again, seriously, it is that good. Every track is worth while with no duds or fillers which is great for the listener. I'm not going to break it out track by track because they are all excellent. Do yourself a favor and pick this up, you are going to like it."Right on to all them mmmmm English girls named Charisse..."

Can't quite capture the feeling of the original album
An oddity of a CD, indeed... BT actually dives down the road most of the other "big names" have at least once in the past decade, and that's toss together a mash-up club-style nonstop mix of tracks that were all pretty much electronic ballads originally on the parent album 'These Hopeful Machines'. I'll admit, I didn't see it coming since it's not really "him", so let's call this an experiment. In short, it works, with a few caveats. All the remixes seem very deliberate to use the original and unaltered voice samples, which is the absolute must-have key connection with the parent album. A lot of the power there came from the almost storyteller-type feeling as each long section ran into the next, and that's still there (but in differing ordering, obviously). Because of the separated nature of the stereotypical remix the transitions are a lot more blunt, but never painfully so.What I'm left with here is for all these remixes to be un-mixed and separated and made...

The master has evolved further yet...
A few years back, I did a review of BT's "Movement In Still Life", an album that changed the way I looked at dance music. After the decent, yet stutter-step that was Emotional Technology, and the beautiful, yet too ambient for my taste "This Binary Universe", today I am happy to return to Amazon to say that BT's latest offering, "These Hopeful Machines", is an album that once again changes the way I look at dance music, a double-album where I don't even care what the names of each song are or where the skip button is located, because it flows so beautifully well.Forget your radio-cheese pop or your repetitive club-dance music. THIS is the future right here. Brian Transeau is so ahead of his time that it's ridiculous. This is not a person who goes loop-nuts with synths and drum machines, or relies lazily on his computer to do all the work for him. This album has been composed with TLC and it shows. You can truly feel BT's vision come to life, almost as if every minute...

Heartwrenching ...
... because it means no other artist or album after this will ever live up to my expectations again.I didn't think he could do it ... after four years, I thought BT had gone to live in a hermitage somewhere to contemplate the wonderful accomplishments of his life, but it turns out, he was working on this album. I feel a little ashamed to be calling this an "album" ... it's not an album, it's an experience. It encompasses everything music should encompass. It's orchestral, lyrical, celebratory ... it's about love, heartache, inner peace, and every other emotion you could possibly imagine. It's tough to explain exactly what I feel when I listen to BT, because his music envelops all of your senses in a bubble of cosmic waves and euphoria. BT's music DOES something to your brain waves and the world just seems a little bit clearer. 'These Hopeful Machines' is no exception to that.Protip: Don't listen to this album (or really, any of Brian's music) on your laptop...

Setting the Tone for trance music in 2010!
Brian delivered some amazing electronic albums in the late 90s and in the early 2000s. Then, in 2003, Emotional Technology, Movement in Still Life and This Binary Universe took a new approach to electronic music and the clubs didn't quite soak it up.For good reason. Personally, I think those albums are fantastic but they were experimental, new and broke out of the traditional trance mold.As I attended BT's shows and started hearing singles from the upcoming album, These Hopeful Machines, it was clear that Brian was bringing things back to basics but I wasn't quite sure how he would deliver...These Hopeful Machines is a new era in electronic music. Brian has taken every phenomenal aspect of his entire catalog and applied it to this album.1. The vocals, pop appeal and ballad level lyrics that we love in the album, Emotional Technology2. The stutter edit effects that made up This Binary Universe3. The build up and release that...

Smells awful but really works!
I've had a huge problem with cabbage worms and other caterpillars destroying my herbs. While traditional chemical pesticides worked fairly well, I never felt all that comfortable eating my herbs after spraying them with those chemicals. When I read about BT (Bacillus thuringiensis), I thought it sounded too good to be true...a bacterium that kills caterpillars but is absolutely harmless to humans, pets, and bees. I'm so glad I tried Safer Brand Caterpillar Killer with BT! I sprayed my sad, moth-eaten herbs with BT a couple times a week for 2 to 3 weeks and I'm happy to say that there are no signs of caterpillars and my plants have really come back to life! The spray smells awful but the smell dissipates quickly and it works so I don't really care about the transient odor. I definitely recommend this product!

Worked great!
Caterpillers had completely distroyed my basil and were beginning to work on my plum trees whne the Safer arrived. I sprayed that night and everyotehr night for a week and there had not been anymore carterpiller damage. Love this stuff!!!!lisa

It Works Great!
I have used this for a long time but this year I tried something new and it worked. I began as soon as my squash started blooming. Every three days I would spray the stem with this product. I was faithful and my neighbor's squash on two sides all died due to squash vine borers, my test plant died too. However the squash I faithfully sprayed is still doing well. Vines up to an inch to inch and a half and no sign of borers!!! I don't need it for much else the birds keep my caterpillers away but those nasty borers nothing but this will seem to touch. Now I don't know for 100% sure if it is the every three day hard spraying with the 16oz spray bottle, perhaps knocking the newly layed eggs off or it is the BT alone or a combination but whatever it is ... it works!!

Product Description

In February of 2011, BT released his sixth studio album, These Hopeful Machines, to critical acclaim, leading to his first GRAMMY® nomination in the Electronic/Dance Category. With These Re-Imagined Machines, the trance pioneer presents a completely different, re-packaged version of this classic album.

On These Humble Machines, BT took his original Grammy-nominated, two-hour opus and concentrated it into an intense 70-minute experience, allowing fans to now experience his compositional mastery and technical prowess on one thrilling disc. On the complete opposite end of the spectrum, These Re-Imagined Machines is a two-disc collection BT s original compositions on These Hopeful Machines that have been re-imagined by some of BT s most respected peers, including Armin van Buuren, Sultan & Ned, Marcus Schössow and Chicane. Six of the 17 tracks have never before been released. Top to learn more

For the Trance Addicts
Let's get something straight first: "These Hopeful Machines" is already an electronica masterpiece, and there is no need for a remix album. HOWEVER, I thoroughly enjoy remix albums, no matter how good the original is, and found this one to be in the world of trance delight. It's like BT drank too many caramel mochas one morning and spent his energy that day giving this album a very aggressive dive into the trance genre. The album is nice and long (clocking in a little over 2 hours) and is smartly done.If trance is your thing, you will dig it. If you're more caught up with the sonic world BT created with the original (like me), you won't miss too much by skipping this one.
