On those youtube videos, they aren't exaggerating!
First of all, I am not really into all that really hot, spicy food. Some spiciness is alright, but bland food is fine with me. Here at the house we were watching some funny videos on youtube, people eating these, and after some talking about it, I bought this 15-pack, and I have to say, the people in the videos weren't trying to be funny; this stuff is unreal! If you just hold it by the stem and bite a piece off, you'd better have a butt-load of bread and dairy products on hand, because the experience is something you'd never expect. I chewed it on the left side of my mouth, and quickly felt like there was a blow-torch searing my tongue and inner cheek. It took my breath away for a moment, and I lost my voice. Then my throat started to burn, and I could feel the heat radiating from inside my body. I drank some 1% lowfat and then got the cold sweats. It definitely is a different experience. So if you want to make your prepared foods with an extra punch, or are...

Product Description

In 2000, scientists at India's Defense Research Laboratory (DRL) reported a rating of 855,000 units on the Scoville scale and in 2004 an Indian company obtained a rating of 1,041,427 units through HPLC analysis. This makes it almost twice as hot as the Red Savina pepper, Guinness World Record holder at that time. For comparison, Tabasco red pepper sauce rates at 2,500-5,000, and pure capsaicin (the chemical responsible for the pungency of pepper plants) rates at 15,000,000-16,000,000 Scoville units. The Bhut Jolokia Pepper we sell are grown in total isolation (no other pepper plants within 1 mile or more) in Assam India to insure absolute genetic purity. The parent seeds came from plants that tested over 1,000,000 (1 million) SKU's. This ensures that you get a premium product that is rarely offered anywhere else, as most Bhut Jolokia Pepper seed producers do not grow their peppers in total isolation. Even with these stringent quality control methods the heat of the offspring can still vary greatly depending on the climate at the time of their growing. Top to learn more

Two hours on the couch unable to move later...
I had seen ghost chile's all over tv so being a hot food fanatic I had to buy some. I was not disappointed. I blended them up and put some in a hot sauce and it had a perfect heat. But unless it's with a lot of other flavors and cooked they are KILLER. I just chopped one up and put it in an omelete. After pounding my fist on the table through the battle, I proceeded to lay down on my couch for 2 hours unable to move while the heat consumed my innards and scorched my mouth. These are the real deal, and live up to the name 100%.

Not insanely hot, but just right
I've always liked hot stuff, but lately I've found I need more and more to get the same kick. I guess I've developed a tolerance? I'm not a fan of ground habanero, because it changes the flavor of the food too much, so my go-to spice has always been cayenne. But in order to get the heat level I want, I use so much that it flavors the food as well. I finally got around to ordering this, and I'm very pleased. I get just the right amount of heat without the flavor overpowering the food. It's no where near as hot as I was expecting, though. I've seen it on several TV shows where the chefs make a big deal about it with gas masks and gloves like it's DEFCON 1. I don't know if this has the heat that a ghost pepper SHOULD have, as I have never tried it before, but I would hazard a guess that this has about triple of what your average grocery store cayenne powder has.P.S I give the seller 5 stars - Ordered late Saturday and received on a Wednesday!

Product Description

Bhut Jolokia Pepper: In fall of 2006, the Guinness Book of Records confirmed that New Mexico State University Regent s Professor Paul Bosland had indeed discovered the world s hottest chile pepper, Bhut Jolokia. Bhut Jolokia, at 1,001,304 Scoville Heat Units (SHU), is nearly twice as hot as Red Savina, the chile pepper variety it replaces as the world s hottest. A New Mexico green chile contains about 1,500 SHUs and an average jalapeno measures at about 10,000 SHUs.

The name Bhut Jolokia translates as ghost chile, Bosland said, "it s because the chile is so hot, you give up the ghost when you eat it!

Other Names: Bhut Jolokia, Ghost Chili, Ghost Pepper, Naga Morich

Caution: The fruits of this chile variety are extremely hot. It is advised to wear gloves when handling the peppers, keep them away from children, and thoroughly clean all kitchen utensils like cutting boards, knives etc. When grinding dreid Jolokias, wear a breathing mask, protect your eyes. Don't touch any sensitive parts before cleaning your hands thoroughly first. And use these peppers sparingly - it is always easier to kick up the heat of a dish than toning it down.

The Bhut Jolokia is a naturally-occurring interspecies hybrid from the Assam region of northeastern India. Hence the color, shape, size, texture and heat may vary. It should also be grown isolated from other peppers for the hottest fruit. Top to learn more

Ghost Peppers
With soo many fakes (habanero's passing as ghost peppers) I can say this is the real deal! My order had real dried ghost peppers. Being soo new to us here in the US the prices still seem high or anything Ghost Pepper related. This product was the cheapest I found for the quantity offered. Will not be disappointed with buying this. I'm defiantly making another order when this bag runs out.

Perfect purchase.
My dad is a master gardener and a practical joker. I knew that I wanted these seeds for him and only wanted them straight from the source. They were inexpensive and arrived quickly. It has been 6 months since he planted them and they are big and healthy. I am very happy with my perfect, yet inexpensive purchase.

The real thing!
We started about 15 varities of peppers from seeds. A couple (purchased elsewhere) weren't what they said they were, that happens alot with the really hot, trendy ones. These were the real deal. I tried the teeny tiniest sliver of a piece and thought my tongue was melting... literally. I thought when I looked at it, it would look all drippy and melted! The guys have fun with it though, and it's funny to watch them squirm because they're too manly to drink milk! : )

sauce not for mortals
I purchased a burrito from a small shop a few blocks from home. I was unimpressed with their habanero "hot" salsa. Eager to kick it up a notch, I reached for a bottle of what I later found to be Dave's Gourmet Ghost Pepper Jolokia Hot Sauce. I unscrewed the top and went to put a dab on. I quickly realized that there was no flow regulation but not before a large pool of the magma colored liquid dripped into my lunch. I decided to dab my finger in it and see what I was dealing with. It was formidable, sweet and flavorful with a long heat. I thought I could take the heat.I demolished the burrito, hot sauce and all, and shrugged off the pain. Every bite was saturated with the taste of a thousand tortured souls but the guacamole still tasted great. I wiped my tingling lips and while downing a glass of water I looked at the bottle. It claimed a heat rating of "Insanity++." I headed home thinking surely the worst must be over. I've ate plenty of hot food and my stomach is battle...

A glimpse into the abyss
A few hours ago, I put a dime sized dab of this sauce on a corn chip and scarfed it down. Initially, it was hot but certainly no hotter than other sauces I've had. I quickly followed up with another dime sized dab on a chip. Shortly thereafter, it began to feel as if my tongue was being electrocuted. My eyes began to sting and my lips went numb. The ecstasy brought about by eating spicy food poured up out of my mouth and into my head. I laid down and the dog started to act very worried. While prostrate, I focused on the pain and stared into the darkness of my own eyelids. Every little thing becomes significant when the mind is seeking relief from pain. I do not know what will happen when this stuff makes its way through my digestive tract. I'll be eating more soon.

"So Hot It's Spooky". Slightly hotter than "the new hottest sauce in the universe" (Ultimate Insanity). This sauce is distinctive for the sweet fruity flavor that sits over the top of the sauce's heat. Top to learn more

The Hottest of the Hot (for now)
It seems like there is a new "Hottest Pepper in the World" every couple of years or so. Not too long ago it was the Red Savina® Habanero with a Scoville heat rating of 577,000 units. Now it is the Naga Jolokia (also known as the Naga Morris, Nai Miris, Bih Jolokia and Bhut Jolokia, etc.) with a whopping 1,001,304 Scoville Heat Units according to the New Mexico State University Chile Pepper Institute. In February 2007, Guinness World Records certified the Bhut Jolokia (aka Naga Jolokia) as the hottest pepper in the world. It is reportedly called the "Ghost Pepper" because after one bite of the pepper you "give up the ghost".Now Dave's Gourmet has made a sauce from this serious pepper. This is nothing to fool around with, it will cause pain, a lot of pain. So why would anybody want a sauce that hot (other than for bravado)? I for one like the taste. It is a little smokier that Habanero. I also use it in sauces where I want heat but not the red color of chili...

Bhut Jolokia

After all, the Bhut Jolokia is an imported talent bah :P.   I gave it the best fertilizer and I told my help to pay special attention to the plants. I chickened out and I made the excuse that I should instead dry them so that I could propagate more Bhut Jolokia seedlings. The Bhut Jolokias became my mistress. And this pod was bigger and 'handsomer' than the first one I tried. However, one night, after drinking half a bottle of ' montoku ' I grew some courage to try it. Emboldened by my drunken stupor, I tried a whole pod. As I am a chili farmer, imagine my delight when my British guests brought the seeds to me. I treasured them so much especially more so because from our calculation, each seed actually cost RM2. Tea spoon or table spoon. " They say if you talk to the plants and have positive aura, they could sense it and would be healthy. My local cili padi became second class citizen in my nursery.   Like the first try, I chopped a whole pod. ), tried the second bite (I say. I am talking about a small seed, not the pod. I even talked to them, whenever I came to visit, I knelt down on one knee and said, " Vanakam my friend. Once I reached the farm, I would pee next to a plant that I had not urinated near it yet. I told her, "Those plants there are expensive ones. " And I was rewarded with lush green and healthy plants.

This searingly hot chile comes from India and is known by several names: Bhut Jolokia, Dorset Naga, Naga Morich, The Ghost Pepper. Bhut Jolokia seems to be the most common.
