Super cute
I don't eat a lot for lunch so this is perfect! It fits about a cup of cooked rice on the bottom and lots of veggies on the top. It is very small, but if you don't eat much it's great. Plus, it's a /ninja panda/!

It's a hit with my 6 year old!
I bought mine at Natural Pantry and it's just the right size for my son. I can fit his sandwich (cut in the panda shape) in one tray and everything else in the other layer. At first glance it seems to small but actually it's just right. His other lunch bag is big because of all the containers we use....now we don't need them. : )He has used it a few times and so far it gets 5 stars from him that's for sure.

Cute... small.
I ordered two pandas and two frogs for my 4 kids (from ages 2-10). They arrived today and I should probably wait for a day to see how they actually hold up going to school, but I am really excited about these boxes! On first glance they appear to be too small, but when I really think about how much lunch my kids are really able to consume in their short lunch period at school, I think it is just right and will prevent waste. I did try to close them up tonight and flip them over to see how lunch would fare in transit and, because of their small size and how tightly packed I had to make them, nothing moved. I didn't even use the inner tightly sealing lid on the top.Edited: They made it to and from school without spilling. The kids were able to use the bands on them to reclose them. No problems whatsoever and they didn't even eat everything in the boxes!

Yes, they really are worth it
First, I'll address what I'm guessing is likely to be the most common question/gripe . . . Yes, they are certainly worth whatever-multiple-of-the-cost of those nationally available ones (whatever name-brand you choose). These are different!They may be inexpensive enough that your blood pressue won't spike if/when your child loses one at school, but they are most certainly not 'take and toss.' You'll know that the moment you hold one; they're heavier, thicker, sturdier. We have had ours for a few weeks shy of a year now, and they still look/work like brand new. No stains, no etchy shadows, no warping at all (not the bodies, not the lids). I've never hand-washed them, they've been run through the dishwasher every time.The only downside you may not know about to question/gripe . . . the lids are NOT water-tight (it is mentioned right there, under product features, but in case it gets missed or skipped over). I wasn't thrilled about that to begin with, but it's not...

I really wish I could give these Easy Lunchboxes a 5-star rating. They are one of the best options for my lunches and for my 2 preschoolers's lunches/snacks. I love the 3 compartments, the lid is easy to get on and off, and I like that these are BPA-free.There is only 1 thing that prevents me from giving 5 stars. Within a week after purchasing the set from easylunchboxes.com, each of the 4 lunchboxes became cracked or chipped, in which a small pieces broke off around the upper, outer edge (in different places on the different boxes). It doesn't affect the performance of the lunchboxes and is not dangerous or sharp for the kiddos. But I was very disappointed because I expected these to hold up longer. I followed directions and washed on the top rack of the dishwasher. And I didn't throw them around. This Hakoya bento box is a great size for an adult woman (about 630 ml). It comes with a bonus pickle tray which is handy if you want to divide the contents in the upper compartment. Great Bento Box!
I am loving this cute little bento box. It is compact, but large enough to hold a satisfying meal. I like to fill mine with half veggies/fruit, 1/4 protein, and 1/4 carbs. It comes with a removable pickle tray that is handy for separating items in the top tier, a lid for the top tier (which fits nicely into the bottom tier), and an elastic band to hold it all together (mine was red). The amount of calories you want in a meal can be adjusted by using more carbs or protein instead of veggies.This bento box helps me make healthy, well proportioned, satisfying lunches that won't take up much space in my backpack (I used to use a collapsible tupperware, which was great once I was done with my meal, but took up a lot of space while full). I also love that I can separate the components of my meal! Great for lunch
Seems small at first, but it actually holds quite a bit. Both compartments microwave well (three minutes max so far). Be sure to remove the soft plastic lid from the upper tier before microwaving. Smidgets (great for dips and sauces) will fit in both the top and bottom compartments. Size forces you to think about meals. Usually keep cold items like fruit, potato salad or crudite in the upper tier and heat the lower tier. Have been bringing it to work daily for a month now, and it has not absorbed odors. Saves money on takeout and drive-thru. Fun to use and much more appealing than tupperware. Color is dark brown with a textured surface. Very pretty. Makes it easy to find your lunch in the office fridge.

Perfect portions
I bought this for myself as a birthday present a year ago when I wanted an inexpensive bento box. I absolutely love this one! It is really cute, and I bought a matching fork that fits under the top lid. Two things I would like to point out:1) You NEED to buy, make, or find some kind of elastic band to hold the layers together tightly. The 2 tiers do not seal and will not stay together without it. This is not a container for really juicy or wet foods like soup. It is best to pack sauces in separate small containers and add at mealtime (tastes better that way anyway).2) This will look way too small to you when you open it. Make sure you read online about how to properly pack a bento lunch before making judgments about the size. Packed correctly, this lunchbox will hold approximately a 580 calorie meal. I use these all the time.
I use these for myself & my kids all the time; we've had them for about 6 months. They can hold way more food than one would think possible. Many times, I only use the large compartment, instead of both tiers. My kids are constantly asked at school, "Where did you get those cute lunchboxes?!" I actually bought a bunch of different styles of Bento Boxes, some very expensive and I just keep going back to these ones. I recently gave all the pricier ones to a co-worker because these work better for me. I also reccomend getting a few goofy accessories to go with these beacause of the grin factor; "cupcake" pics, craft punches, cookie cutters, and cake decorating supplies are generally less expensive that accessories that are marketed for bentos.

So cool!
The picture doesn't show that each bowl has a lid. The two smaller bowls have snap on tuperware type lids.The rice bowl has a thick, insulated lid but it's not airtight. Instructions say to use it only for rice as other contents may spill.The soup bowl has a twist on lid that has a valve on it. However, the instructions say not to microwave the bowls with the lids on, so I'm not sure why the valve is there.You're not supposed to put the pieces in the dishwasher, nor put any food directly into the outer container.My lunch jar came with both English and Japanese instructions.

Worth every dime! Ideal for high school students
My daughter, a high school senior who agrees with her friends that the school lunches "suck," is sold on this. She wanted to lose a few pounds, which this has helped her do despite the fact that she now eats a higher volume of food during lunch.How? She, like all her friends, used to skip lunch and leave school famished, scarfing down the first things she could get her hands on - usually high fat, high calorie junk food. It's a great "lunchbox" if you adapt your menu to it.First the descriptionThe lunchbox is a Thermos Jar with a non-insulated plastic top. There are four containers that fit into the jar in a specific order.-The bottom container is a insulated bowl. It has a gasket sealed screw on top, insulated side walls and a small vent for pressure. The most insulative of the bunch it is designed for soup or other liquids-The next container is the biggest. nice to know
I purchased this box for my preschool aged son. It is very attractive and seems to be well made. It cleans easily, although I do hand-wash it every night. The only thing that I am dissapointed about is that it would have been nice to know that all the food does not stay separated. I usually give him some sort of fruit and crackers along with a sandwich. The crackers and fruit end up getting mixed and he has soggy sweet crackers which he doesn't usually eat.I would just advise that you think about the ingredients that you put into this box and imagine if they mix, how would they taste? -Florida USA

pricey but cute
I recently got interested in the bento box rage and decided to check it out. This is my first "real" bento, although I have been packing my lunch in various containers for years. When I opened the box I was first struck by how pretty the design is--the reason I chose this particular bento in the first place. Secondly I was startled and angered by the small size for the price. I did not research just how big "650 ml" was and was thinking it would be a fairly large oblong with at least a large sandwich sized container and two fairly good sized snack containers partitioned off.I did think the box was well made, a nice sturdy plastic with secure feeling snaps. The inner boxes are also sturdy and fit well. The bag is also quite cute, and may hold a small granola bar in with the bento.
