So far, it's a winner.
And I mean, 'so far.' This is my third BD player, since my last two did not make it past one month. My first was a SONY BDP S350. After a month, it broke down (see my review on that player's Amazon page). I figured, it happens. I traded that player in for a Samsung P3600, based on rave reviews (including those of the Best Buy sales people). The Samsung did not last 24 hours! (again, see my review on that player's Amazon page). Now I started getting frustrated. After spending enough (way too much) time on-line looking at reviews of several players on various sites, I decided to go for the LG BD390. Sadly, the Best Buy by me said it did not have this latest model. I was happily surprised to find out, when I got to the store to bring in my Samsung player, that they DID have the 390! I snatched the last box they had! While this may all change in time (I sure hope not), based on my past BD experience, so far this player is AMAZING. Where do I start...

!!Exceptional!!
Bottom line, this is simply the best network Blu-ray player on the market. Blu-ray playback, flawless. Streaming Netflix via wireless internet connection, flawless. Any complaints are most likely user error or due to slow internet connection speed, so I have an important bit of advise to potential buyers. HD Netflix requires an internet data rate of ~8mbps. Entry level cable or DSL data rates are 5 and 3 mbps respectively. You will need to upgrade (usually costs $5-$10 per month) to stream HD Netflix. Cable users will be able to watch SD no problem at ~5mbps but SD requires about 3.5 mbps minimum, so entry level DSL users will have some problems streaming SD Netflix. Some DSL service is only 1.5mbps which is well, silly. One more note: I am a Mac user and I can connect the BD390 to the internet and run all the available applications advertised just fine. The only thing you can't do is route iTunes directly from your computer to your TV via the BD390, which you...

Good Features and Solid Performance
I have to say that I'm impressed with this unit. The wait times are not too bad at all, and as others have said, the picture quality is excellent. Standard DVD upconversion is excellent. There are a few minor issues that I've found, which I'll get to. Setup out of the box was quick and simple. I plugged it in and set a few audio options, video needed no adjustment from the defaults. The network setup wasn't too bad, but I did have some issues with encryption. I also purchased a new wireless router (the ) to replace the near-decade-old Linksys I have. I tried two different encryption types, and both both times the player could connect after entering the key, but refused to obtain an IP address. Disabling encryption on the router caused the player to obtain an IP address...

MUCH Better Than The LG BD590...And NO PROBLEM w Upgrades
OK...so I purchased the LG BD590 because I don't have a 3D television or plan to get one anytime soon. However, I purchased it at a great price from Amazon.com ($199). Returned it because it wasn't upgradeable without problems...look at the reviews for the LG BD590 and you'll see that there is a bug everytime anyone tries to upgrade the software when it prompts you to do so. Also, the Netflix on the BD590 is simple...a few genre's listed and categories and you pick from them or your stored que...you can't search for movies by title. With the BD690, it is different---you CAN search by typing in words like you would on a Wii or Xbox enabled Netflix. Also, I haven't done it yet but it says on the BD690 you can hook up a Iphone or Ipad and use the keyboard to enter data. Also, the customer service rep I spoke to at LG told me the app for MLB.COM wasn't working on the BD590---I tried it and subscribed on the BD690 and the picture is so incredible...this blueray player must upscale...

HDD unreliable
If the main reason you would select this guy over another unit is the fact that it has its own internal hard disk you should be aware that usage is very unreliable. I've only loaded video off my camera so copyright protection should not be an issue. I can load some videos; play some videos; rename videos -- or do just about anything and then all of a sudden the BD690 totally freezes up -- I can not turn this guy off via the remote or even using the switch directly on the unit -- the only option is to unplug it from the wall. This isn't a once in a blue moon occurance -- it happens a lot.

18 volt battery powered saw
I've been a professional carpenter for 26 years and this saw is terrific. The key word here is "battery". It is not a 15 amp worm drive skillsaw, and it will not completely replace your 110 volt tools. It is extreamly handy to use and capable of real work. In a skilled hand this tool will do a lot of work and not complain about it. Relax, cut straight, let the saw do the work. Highly recommended.

Excellent for light duty
I purchased this saw about one year ago at a big box store. I was debating between this cordless model and one of the lighter duty DeWalt corded models. I selected this one figuring that it could be useful when on the roof or other location where cords would be a hazard or inconvenient. The saw works well for light duty applications. I have used it easily on 2x4 and 2x6 materials, ripped 4x8 sheets of 3/4 plywood and cut lattice for a porch enclosure project. All done without problems. The battery lasts a lot longer than I expected; I typically can get through medium-sized jobs (say two to four hours for the project) without a recharge. The blade included with the saw is easy to change and is fine for rough work. If I was framing a house, however, I would want a corded saw, but for a homeowner, there is no need to have anything but this saw. I just don't see any downside to owning this at all.

I owned the older Dewalt DW939 saw for several years. It was good little saw and I got plenty of use out of it, but I had always wished that Dewalt would make a cordless saw more like Milwaukee's 18V saw, which I felt was designed more like a cordless saw should be. When first looking over the new model DC390K circular saw kit earlier this year, I was glad to see that Dewalt finally got it right, and purchased one that same week. The DC390's magnesium shoe is lightweight but rigid, much nicer than the stamped steel shoe on the old model. The trigger safety, which was often difficult to use on the old Dewalt saw, is now easy to operate in any cutting position. The small depth-of-cut adjustment knob on the older saw has been changed to a larger lever that can be used even with gloved hands. great blu ray player for the money
I believe I am the first to review this product. At first, I was a little hesitant to buy, because I have not heard any comments from other buyers. Currently, I am a very satisfied customer. Blu-ray playback and regular DVD playback are excellent, fantastic picture quality and amazing sound. It has all of the Dolby TrueHD and DTS MA HD audio decoders. For those with older AV receivers like mine, it comes with a digital coaxial jack instead of the newer optical. The best feature of this player is that I have encountered zero skipping or other playback issues. I had originally bought a Samsung BDP1500, and it was absolute crap, could not play half of the blu ray discs and had multiple menu navigation issues and functionality issues. This LG has none, and I am quite suprised that this entry level model is EXcellent. I highly encourage others to buy. The only gripe I have is that the price is now $20 lower than when i had purchased.

Very nice item, and great price
I also have the "top of the line" LG BD 390, and other than the internet/wireless stuff, it's pretty much the same player. Same features and quality for less than half the price. I only need one player that I can watch Netflix and Youtube on, and so this one is for my kids in the basement. Very easy to set up. Literally, after opening the package, putting it next to the TV, plugging in the HDMI to my TV and the power cord to the surge protector, it took all of 3 minutes for my 3 year-old to start watching an extremely awesome picture of "Ant Bully" on Blu-Ray. Of course, the price dropped 10 bucks the minute after it was delivered, but I still feel like I still got an awesome deal, and that anyone even considering a Blu-Ray player should add this one to the list. It is still cheaper thsn some of the upscaling players out there, and just as good or better. Obviously, if you want the wireless internet connectivity, go with the BD 390, which is still fairly...
