Bought Mine for Internet Use
As an aging "Baby Boomer", I can no longer see clearly close up. Thus the need for what we oldsters commonly call "cheaters". I wanted a pair to use for sitting at my desktop computer where I could see the screen clearly as well as the keyboard. I found the right magnification at 1.5x in these Scojo Rimless Gels. The closest focus is about 12 inches, with a maximum focus length of 24 inches. This is a perfect focal length for doing computer work. For reading, I like to hold the book closer to my eyes than 12 inches, so I opt for the 2x or even 2.5x versions. This gives a closer and narrower field of focus.The glasses are extremely lightweight, and if needed, can be worn on the end of one's nose enabling one to look over the glasses at things at a distance. The "gel" refers to the side support bar - thebow that grips the head above the ear. It is made of a plastic material that comes in different color style options. Sturdier?
I wear reading glasses and perhaps put them on-n-off six times each day. I love these glasses-light weight, LOVE THE COLOR, they fit perfectly, are comfortable. They are more expensive than other reading glasses that I purchase, but the comment I really mean to leave is that they are cheap. They wear out after one week, you cannot even use Crazy Glue on them, there's nothing you can do to repair them, and I am a careful adult, as I WANT them to last. I'm so bummed! Top to learn more

Comfortable and light weight
I recently purchased these glasses along with another pair from the same company to use for reading when wearing contact lenses. I find them to be much more comfortable than conventional reading glasses that can be purchased at the local drug store. They are lightweight and the lenses are big enough to give about 3/4 of a full field of vision. The optics are less satisfactory than prescription glasses, but they also cost about 1/5 as much. One negative: sometimes they tend to slip off when I look down. Top to learn more
